Pipsnacks on Shark Tank – The Episode

Jen and Jeff pitched Pipsnacks on Shark Tank on November 14, 2014, looking not only for an investment, but most importantly to find a partner that could take their business to the next level.

The brother and sister duo entered the Shark Tank seeking an investment of $200,000 for a 10% interest in their company.  They began their pitch by explaining how Jen was introduced to a new and exotic breed of corn by a local farmer excited to educate people on the lesser known crop.  The entrepreneurs then explained just how special this new kernel was over its traditional big brother.  Besides being mini, Jeff boasted that Pipcorn is vegan, gluten free, organic, non-gmo, and most importantly delicious.  The miniature kernel also has another unbeatable feature; the smaller shell inside the corn completely eliminates the chance of the dreaded popcorn kernel in your teeth issue.

With the Sharks intrigued, the only thing left to do was handout some samples.  As each Shark tried the unorthodox popcorn they were treated to four of the company’s best flavors: sea salt, kettle corn, rosemary, and for the popcorn connoisseur, white truffle.  The good news was everyone loved the taste, and were pleased with each variety; the bad news…Kevin O’Leary wasn’t so pleased with the business strategy.  With a business that’s sole differentiator from the leagues of other popcorn sellers was a unique strain of corn, O’Leary wanted to know if this special strain of corn was exclusive to the Pipsnacks brand.

Unfortunately, the entrepreneurs didn’t have the answer Kevin was looking for.  Jeff quickly explained that while they don’t have an exclusivity deal yet, Pipsnacks is growing so quickly that they do expect to have that deal some day in the future.  “Someday in the future” was not the answer Kevin O’Leary was hoping to hear, for him, Pipsnacks had given themselves a two million dollar valuation, with nothing proprietary to justify such a high number.  To O’Leary, with two million dollars he easily could buy a large amount of the specialty corn and hire two people to run the business for a quarter of the price.

The brother and sister team were quick to fire back, pointing out that they have already been running this business for two and a half years, and have more experience than anyone he could possibly hire.  On top of that, Pipsnacks had some impressive numbers with over $400,000 in sales and a company growing so quickly they’d increased sales by 125% from the year before.  Plus, there was even greater potential for sales on the horizon.  Jeff explained that the company was on the precipice of an explosion in sales, but they had one very serious manufacturing hurdle to overcome.  Pipsnacks growth from 0 to $400,000, while lighting fast, was also encumbered by the reality that it was only manufactured by 3 employees with no outside help.  With all the manufacturing done in house, there was no way for the company to perform mass expansion.

That’s why the entrepreneurs had also been hunting for a co-packer.  A co-packer, also known as a contract packer, is a company that packages and distributes a company’s product’s so the business owners can focus on sales.  The Pipsnacks duo was confident that if they could only find the right co-packer to package their product they could double their sales by the end of the year.  Add to that news, that the co-packer could also cut their costs in half, and the future of Pipsnacks was a lot brighter than Mr. O’Leary’s potential copycat business.

Seeing a company brimming with possibility, Robert Herjavec jumped into the discussion.  Impressed with the entrepreneurs’ confidence, as well as how tasty the product samples turned out to be, Robert was willing to make an offer: $200,000 for 20% of the business.  A very exciting offer for the up and coming business, but as Kevin O’Leary pointed out; Robert was cutting the value of their business in half.

Barbra Corcoran, was also impressed with the initial success of the business, but for her it was the clear “it” factor the duo possessed that made it a deal she couldn’t pass up.  They were winners, and she could smell it a mile away.  So, Barbra presented an even better offer, $200,000 for 10% of the company, which was exactly what the Pipsnacks duo had come into the Shark Tank asking for.   Robert wasn’t keen to let a company with such a bright future slip away and jumped in with a matching offer.  He too believed the duo were clear winners and wanted the opportunity to join the team.

Jen and Jeff gave it some thought, but with Barbra’s demonstrated success in the food industry, and her penchant for being a dedicated mentor, her offer was an amazing opportunity.  With a heartfelt apology to Robert, the team gave Barbara a big yes!

Pipsnacks Now In 2026 – Recent Updates

The deal with Barbara closed successfully and within a few months of their Shark Tank appearance, sales had exploded from $200,000 to $1.1 million. In fact, right after the episode aired, they received more than 12,000 orders, which was a huge jump from the 1,000 that they previously had. Because of the huge amount of orders, however, they soon found themselves with backorder issues.

Fortunately, they were able to turn it into a positive with Barbara’s help. Instead of leaving the customers out in the dark, they decided to offer discounts to those who’ve waited for the longest. They also offered them free shipping on their subsequent orders.

In the end, however, it was only a temporary problem. Before long, they had begun working with co-packers on the west and east coast, which put fulfillment issues behind them.

A year after appearing on the show, they received an update segment, which was included in episode 701. In the clip, Jeff and Jeffrey worked with Barbara at the New York Food Show to showcase Pipcorn. They also revealed that they’ve done more than $1.4 million in sales.

Not long afterward, they received another update, this time in episode 204 of Beyond the Tank. In the follow-up, the brother and sister team revealed that their miniature popcorn is now available in over 600 stores across the country and that they’ve now done over $4 million in sales. This explosive growth, however, has led to a problem. Since they don’t have a warehouse, they’re forced to store the product in the hallway and kitchen. Wanting to remedy the situation, they are now looking for distributors and partners who will store the product themselves.

They later met with Barbara to discuss the options. While Jeff and Jen are optimistic that finding a large distributor is the way to go, Barbara is concerned that their popcorn will get lost in their inventory. She suggests that they continue to grow the brand through small distributors instead. She’s also worried about the size of their kitchen; she feels that it won’t be able to handle the company’s potential expansion.

Jeff tells her that they’ve partnered with West Coast production company. Barbara recommends that they find another partner on the East Coast so that they can reduce shipping costs and storage. She also suggests that they move the whole operation to New Jersey, but the siblings are hesitant as they like the current kitchen, which makes up one-quarter of their sales.

In the end, Barbara introduced them to a business acquaintance who operates a large warehouse in New Jersey. Jeff and Jenn are impressed and decide to reassess the situation.

Fast forward to 2026 and PipSnacks are still available nationwide. The Covid-19 pandemic had made things a little difficult but they were able to make do by pivoting to digital sales. The last that we checked, they were making $5 million in revenue a year.

For Alice, co-owner of the business, her turning point came when she asked her father if Santa Claus would be bringing her a new Barbie for Christmas, a few weeks later she opened her shiny new saw! Her father’s words, “build the dream house yourself.” Ever since, she was passionate about engineering.

And to add to those impressive stats, Roominate was set to be in 596 Toys-R-Us stores and 1,500 Radioshacks by the following year. Mr. Wonderful, Kevin O’Leary, was truly impressed with entrepreneurs ability to get mass distribution so quickly, a task that is often insurmountable for young inventors. That said, he was weary of the reality that all of their claims of distribution were for the future, and at present, their sales were online focused. In his words “I’m being asked to pay for success before I know with certainty I have it.” The Roominate team quickly defended their numbers, responding that they have a clear track record of success, with sales more than tripling each year.

Mark Cuban, who in order to prove the versatility of Roominate, was built a basketball court with complimentary airplane as a sample, was impressed with the success of the two female inventors. The ingenuity and dedication of the women brought out the family man that accompanied Mark’s own success. With a net worth of over $3 billion dollars, Mark expressed concerns that his two daughters may acquire a sense of entitlement, instead of the strong work ethic he developed. So, he made the entrepreneurs their first offer, the full $500,000 for 5% of the business, but with one contingency, his daughters had to be a part of the project and have the opportunity to lean on Alice and Bettina as mentors. Lori Greiner took the opportunity to jump into the deal as well. Known to her other successful entrepreneurs as The Chickstarter, she was excited to join another project with passionate women set out to inspire and innovate.

Roominate Now In 2026 – How They’re Doing After Shark Tank

With Mark’s help, they were able to expand their retail presence. First and foremost, they landed a deal with Walmart, which agreed to sell their product in more than 800 locations nationwide. Not only that, but they were also available through their website.

Before long, they made over $4.5 million in sales, which is a significant jump from what they were making before going on the show ($1.7 million in 2014). This allowed the entrepreneurs to upgrade their workspace. In addition to getting their own headquarters in Wisconsin, they also hired eight additional employees.

From there, they won time Magazine’s Toy of the Year Award and was listed on Jennifer Alsever’s list of “next generation creators”. That’s not all, they also received an Academics’ Choice Brain Toy Award, Parents’ Choice Gold Award, Dr. Toy 100 Best Toys Award, and several others.

In the end, however, they only owned the company for an additional year. In January 2016, it was announced that Roominate had been acquired by Patch Products, a manufacturer of games, toys, and puzzles, for an undisclosed amount.

As of 2026, the toys still exist. They have since been rebranded as Playmonster and are available from their official website. Currently, the company offer six different categories of products—those for infants (less than 24 months), toddlers (2 to 4 years old), young kids (5 to 7 years old and 8 to 13 years), and teens to adults. As far as we can tell, however, they don’t have any of the original construction sets for sale—at the moment, at least. Rather, they have doll houses, ‘create a scene’ toys, make a bracelet kits, and other toys, all of which range in price depending on what you get. As for the entrepreneurs, they seem to be working with Playmonster on the development of Roominate. According to Alice Brook’s profile on their site, she’s confident about the product’s next phase and that she will be working with other artists and engineers to design new pieces for the construction sets.

Bettina Chen, however, seems to have moved on to other things. According to her LinkedIn profile, she started working as a Watch aCcessories Engineering Program Manager for Apple in 2016. She later began working for their Biomechanics Research Center Engineer Program in March 2021 and as far as we can tell, she still works there today. Considering that, we probably won’t be seeing her back on the toys side of things anytime soon.

How did T.J Dillashaw Make His Money & Wealth?

T.J. was born on February 7, 1986, in  the small town of Sonora, California. He was born to parents Janice and Hal Dillashaw. During his childhood the family moved to Angels Camp City, California. He continued to live their for the rest of his childhood and even attended the local high school, Bret Hart High School. While attending the high school he participated in several extracurricular activities. Two of the activities that he participated in were wrestling and football. He wrestled for the school on its wrestling team all four years, but was only a part of the school’s football team a single season. In June of 2004, he went on to graduate high school and enrolled in college. The college that he enrolled at was California State University in Fullerton, California. After being accepted into the college T.J. went on to compete for the school’s wrestling team, The Titans.

High School Wrestling Career

T.J.’s wrestling career first started during high school. During high school, he wrestled for coach and high school English teacher Jan Schulz. Under Schulz coaching, T.J. went on to become a sectional qualifier four times, as well as a California Interscholastic Federation state qualifier twice. Suring his junior year in high school, he went on to place fifth in the California Interscholastic Federation state championship competition. As a result, he ended his season with an impressive record of 45 wins, 7 losses. As a senior, He once again competed in the California Interscholastic Federation State Championship. He placed second and went on to have a season record of 52 – 6. His overall high school record was 170 – 33 which is quite the feat for a high school athlete.

College Wrestling Career

As a result of his impressive high school accomplishments as a wrestler, T.J. received a full scholarship to compete on the wrestling team for the Fullerton Titans at Cal State. During his freshmen year, T.J. had a record of 14-16 including a record of 10 – 8 for dual matches. For Pac-10 at dual meets, he went on to achieve a record of 3 – 4. During the early summer of his 2006 college years, T.J. traveled to Ukraine where he could work on and improve his skills. In his sophomore year, Dillashaw improved immensely. He had an admirable overall record with 17 wins and 14 losses. For dual matches, he had a record of 11 – 4. In the big Pac-10 championship, he finished fourth. In April of 2007, he went on to compete in the University Greco Wrestling Championship, held at Akron, Ohio. He finished sixth in the competition. That same year he finished fourth for the Pac-10 championship. During his senior year, he earned a record of 22-10 and held four pins. Dillashaw once again placed fourth in that year’s Pac-10 competition with a record of 7-0. Dillashaw also placed second at the Cliff Keen Invitational. During his senior year, T.J. was ranked number 10 in the U.S. at 133 pounds.

Mixed Martial Arts

Once Dillashaw graduated from California State University, T.J. turned to mixed martial arts. During his time at California State University, he was coached by Mark Munoz, a former UFC Middleweight. Munoz saw T.J.’s great success with wrestling and offered T.J. the chance to join the Reign Training Center in the professional fighter class once he was finished with his last year of college. T.J. trained at the training center for over a year but was then urged by Munoz to find a training center closer to Dillashaw’s hometown at Angles Camp, California. As a result, T.J. quickly started training at Team Alpha. During his time at Team Alpha Male, he had an amateur record of 2-0 before quickly going professional.

His official professional debut was in 2010 on the night of March 26th. His debut was against a fellow debut in the pro world of mixed martial arts, Czar Sklavos. T.J. used his advanced wrestling techniques to win a unanimous and dominant decision win. Only two months after the win, Dillashaw took on Brandon Drucker. He won the first round via a submission hold. The fight was held duing Fight for Wrestling, which is an event that is held to raise and generate money for the California Poly wrestling squad. T.J. signed on to participate in Ultimate Fighter 14: Team Bisping versus Team Miller. He competed against Matt Jaggers in episode one in order to be granted entry to the show’s Ultimate Fighter house. Jaggers was defeated in the first round via a KO by Dillashaw. T.J. was a part of Team Bisping and was the second bantam weight for that particular team. T.J then went on to beat several other contestants including Roland Delorme and Dustin Prague.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

T.J. made his official UFC debut to the world December 3, 2011, at the finale of Ultimate Fighter 14. The championship was held in Las Vegas, Nevada and he fought John Dodson in order to help determine who would  win Ultimate Fighter season 14. Unfortunately, Dillashaw lost the fight via TKO. She has also published three cookbooks that had immense success. The cookbooks feature several recipes created by Teresa’s mother. The cookbooks that she has released are titled “Skinny Italian,” “Fabulicious,” and “Fabulicious!: Fast and Fit.” The books were released in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Teresa also went on to publish and co-write a memoir based on her time in prison. During his first season, Terrell competed against several teams including, but not limited to the New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and The Cincinnati Bengals. Owens’ first professional game after being drafted was against the Saints. During the game, he had a noteworthy special teams play. The first catches that he made were against The Carolina Panthers. He caught two passes for a net gain of six yards. A week later, in his game against The Atlanta Falcons, he went on to complete a kick-return for 17-yards and also completed a single catch for 30 yards.

Terrell’s first professional touchdown was in October of 1996 against The Cincinnati Bengals during the fourth quarter. The touchdown was completed for a gain of 45-yards and lead to The San Francisco 49ers winning the game by 7 points.  Terrell made a big name for himself during his second professional season in 1997. Terrell and fellow teammate, Steve Young, became very compatible with each other, and it showed on the field.  This rapport lead to the 49ers winning 13 games for the 1997 season. Terrell finished the season with nine touchdowns and over 900 yards. In 1998, Owens created a household name for himself when he caught the game-winning touchdown against The Green Bay Packers. It was the first time that the 49ers had beaten the Packers and they did so with a three point lead with seconds left on the clock.

The next season was a bad season for Terrell’s whole team.  The team lost their quarterback as he was not able to pass necessary medical tests. In 2002, the team had 6 losses, and as a direct result, the head coach of five years, Steve Mariucci, was released and quickly replaced by, Dennis Erickson, a former Seattle Seahawks coach. After the coaching change, the 2003 season was still very lacking in both terms of how the team performed and how the coaching staff handled the team. The team completed the 2002 season with a 7-9 record.  After this particular season, Terrell decided to leave and was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. The trade was not smooth as Terrell ran into several problems along the way. The main being that The 49ers believed that they still had the right to Terrell and his contract. Terrell disputed this along with The NFLPA. The 49ers and Terrell soon came to a conclusion allowing Terrell to be Traded to the Philadelphia Eagles after a several month long battle. Terrell’s contract with the Eagles at the time was widely reported by several sources at a time to be over $ 40 million dollars, plus a signing bonus of about $10 million which was an unheard of the amount when it came to football players at the time.   The news coverage opened up the opportunity for Terrell to get a book deal, and after signing with the Eagles, Terrell released his a book titled “ Catch This!” The book was over 288 pages in length and was ghost written.

Terrell’s first season with the Eagles in 2004 was great for both the team and Terrell, Due to his great performance with the team Terrell quickly gained popularity by both fans of the Eagle’s and throughout the league as a whole. Unfortunately, Terrell injured himself in December of 2004. Terrell suffered a severely fractured fibula and a sprained ankle after he was tackled using a maneuver that has now been banned. The maneuver was called The horse-collar tackle and could lead to serious injuries such as the one experienced by Terrell. The Eagles were on their way to the super bowl and Terrell vowed that he would play in the big game, no matter his condition, and he did just that. With the help of physical therapy and other useful tools, Terrell was back much sooner than the expected time frame. Terrell played in the game and played well, but the Eagles Ultimately lost despite their best efforts.

In 2006, Terrell was cut from the Eagles. He then went on to play for the Dallas Cowboys. He signed a three-year contract worth $25 million and had several bonuses promised to him. While the initial campaign didn’t quite get Donald the movie deal, it did lead to a role on the small screen as the voice of Miles Morales, a version of Spider-man from an alternative reality, in Disney XD’s animated series “Ultimate Spider-Man.”   That experience with a Marvel animated series is sure to bolster Glover’s talent, and add to the quality and flair of the new Deadpool series.  Look for the Deadpool series to air in 2018.

How did Mario Batali make his money and wealth?

Mario Batali’s career started during his college years when he worked for a restaurant specializing in Stromboli, near his college campus. That is where he discovered his love for food and cooking.
