A three-time Olympian, Jessie Diggins has competed in many cross-country skiing events since her debut. For instance, she won a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships in Val di Fiemme at the age of twenty-two. This month, she’s also representing the United States at the 2018 Winter Games.
Born on August 26, 1991, in Afton, Minnesota, Jessie Diggins has been on skis even before she could even walk. By the time she was in her teens, she had begun to compete in the sport. How Jessie Diggins Became Famous
In 2013, she rose to prominence after winning a gold medal in the team sprint event at the 2013 World Ski Championships. From there, she eventually finished on the podium for a silver in the 10km freestyle discipline at the 2015 World Championships.
A year after her victory at the World Championships in 2013, Diggins was selected to represent the U.S. team for the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi. In the end, she finished 8th overall in the 15km skiathlon, 12th in the sprint, 9th in the 4 x 5 km relay, and 40th in the 30km mass start.

Jessie Diggins recently represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. She participated in several events and won a silver medal for the 30km freestyle and a bronze medal for the individual sprint, making her the first non-European athlete to achieve such a feat. And while she didn’t manage to medal in the cross-country skiing events, she did finish in the top 10 for all of them.
Last year, she also won the 2021 Tour de Ski (part of the FIS Cross-Country World Cup) , which took place in Val Mustair, Switzerland. As a result, she landed herself at the top of the 2020-2021 World Cup season standings—this put her beside Koch, who won the title back in 1982. To date, they’re the only Americans to have won overall season titles during the World Cup Cross-Country Ski event.
Aside from her skiing achievements, she also published her own book, ‘Brave Enough’, which came out in March 2020. A memoir of sorts, it tells the story of how she got into skiing as well as her professional career.
