Kaetlyn Osmond recently won a bronze medal for Canada, in the ladies’ singles at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. A two-time Olympian, she had also represented Canada at the 2014 Winter Games, where she won a silver medal in the team event.
Brought up in Sherwood Park, Alberta, she followed her older sister to the ice rink at the age of three. Due to a lack of ice in the summer months, however, they often traveled to Montreal to train during their early years.
How Kaetlyn Osmond Became Famous
As a senior, she first gained attention after finishing third at the 2012 Canadian Championships. The following season, she went on to win her senior international title at the Nebelhorn Trophy, which took place in Oberstdorf, Germany. Just a few months later, she won a gold medal- aka her first senior national title at the 2013 Canadian Championships.
Training under the guidance of Frank and Walia Carroll, she later finished first at the 2014 Canadian Championships, having successfully defended her title. With that, she was named to the Canadian Figure Skating Team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Though she didn’t finish on the podium in the individual event, she did contribute to Canada’s silver medal in the team event.
Kaetlyn Osmond’s Recent Activities
Fast forward to earlier this year, and she had the opportunity to represent Canada for a second time at the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics. An overall success, she not only helped the team win a gold medal in the Team Event, but she had also finished third on the podium for a bronze medal in the women’s singles.
Prior to the 2018 Winter Olympics, Osmond had set new personal best scores at the CS Autumn Classic International, which took place in September 2017. Afterward, she had finished in second place at the 2018 Canadian National Championships in Vancouver.
