The Situation, or Mike Sorrentino, was the subject of a public controversy which aggravated many Italian-American organizations across the nation. Becoming a household name through the MTV hit show Jersey Shore, Sorrentino would become one of the most recognized characters in reality TV. The question we all have right now is… what’s he doing now?

The Start for The Situation

Born on July 4, 1982 in Staten Island, New York, Sorrentino would graduate from Manalapan High School in 2000. He has two older brothers, Frank and Marc, and one younger sister named Melissa. He spent much of his early 20’s working as an exotic dancer and an assistant manager for a gym in Staten Island. Shortly after being fired from the gym at the age of 25, Sorrentino would turn to underwear modeling as a means to support himself. Based on the history of his professional career, one can easily see compare the younger Sorrentino to the television personality we know him as today. The Situation would make his debut in front of a national audience in December 2009.

Jersey Shore

MTV debuted the first episode of Jersey Shore on December 3, 2009 and finished the first season with a strong following of near 5 million viewers. The show follows the lives of eight housemates as they spend the summer at the Jersey Shore in New Jersey. The production debuted with large amounts of controversy regarding the use of the word “Giuddo” and for perpetuating certain stereotypes. For reference, the terms giuddo is an ethnic slur which refer to Italians and Italian-Americans (“Guidette” for female). The network did little to hide the mockery targeting these ethnic groups as several promotions explicitly used the ethnic slurs and steering the audience towards the stereotype.

It wasn’t before long the show would face a public upheaval in regards to the content. UNICO National, a service organization of Italian-Americans establish in Waterbury, Connecticut back in 1922, formally requested that MTV cancel the show. The president of the organization publicly issued a statement calling out MTV for mocking their culture.

The show quickly drew the attention from other Italian-American organizations as they joined the fight against MTV’s hit. The National Italian American Foundation and Order Sons of Italy in America were among the groups that joined the fight with UNICO and publicly voiced their distaste for the show. Several of the network’s sponsors also had concerns with the show, notably Dell, Domino’s and American Family Insurance. MTV’s released a statement in regards to all of the negative publicity, saying how the cast was proud of their heritage and how the show targets a very specific demographic.

Aside from being criticized on a national level, the cast had to deal with a tremendous amount of scrutiny on the local level. New Jersey natives would confront members on several occasions and point out how most of the cast were not from New Jersey. In addition, the cast would have to deal with public hatred for the fact that two of the members were not of Italian descent (Nicole “Snooki” Polizze and Jennifer “JWoww” Farley). If you watched the show on any consistent basis, you’d quickly notice just how much drama each of the cast members would have to deal with, whether from outside influences or with each other.

All of this negative attention did little to hinder the show’s success. National viewership peaked between seasons 3 and 4, reaching 8 million viewers per episode during that period of time. Each of the cast members were paid between $30,000 and up to $150,000 per episode during the lifetime of the series, which took them from New Jersey to Miami as well as Italy. A total of seven official remakes have been produced globally in an attempt to capitalize on the success of the original series, including Geordie Shore set in Newcastlye upon Tyne, England, The Valleys set in Cardiff, Wales, and Gandia Shore set in Gandia, Spain. For a period of time, the show reached influences in the public beyond the entertainment industry. The University of Chicago and the University of Oklahoma are among the educational institutions that have had classes or conferences devoted to discussing and studying the show. In 2010, the cast of Jersey Shore was named on Barbara Walters’ 10 Most Fascinating People list.

The Situation Now in 2026 – After Jersey Shore Update

Sorrentino appeared in several reality shows throughout the 2010s including Dancing with the Stars, The Roast of Donald Trump, Celebrity Big Brother, The Choice, Worst Cooks in America, Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, and Suburgatory. At one point, he even had his own reality show called The Sorrentinos, which centered around him and his family.

Since 2018, he has also been starring in Jersey Shore: Family Vacation. A revival of the original series, it follows the seven original roommates as they vacation for a month together in Miami, Florida. In total, there are five seasons, the most recent of which finished airing on October 20, 2022. While ratings haven’t been ideal, the show has received numerous accolades including a People’s Choice Award and an MTV Movie and TV Award for Best Docu-Reality Show.

Aside from that, he also appeared in the MTV reality series Buckhead Shore, which is similar to Jersey Shore in that documents nine adults who live together for the summer. In 2021, he also lent his voice to one of the characters in the sci-fi comedy film Ron’s Gone Wrong and before that, he participated in the seventh season of Celebrity Family Feud.

In terms of his personal life, he announced in April 2018 that he had become engaged to his college sweetheart, Lauren Pesce; they later tied the knot on November 1, 2018. The following year, he revealed that Pesce had suffered a miscarriage seven weeks into her pregnancy. Two years later in 2020, they announced that they were expecting a child in May 2021. More recently in August 2022, they announced that they were expecting a second child.

Mike Sorrentino with his wife of four years and young child

Prior to getting married, however, he had run into some issues with the law. In 2014, he was charged with tax fraud, after it was determined that he hadn’t paid taxes on $8.9 million. Later in January 2018, he pleaded guilty to one count of tax evasion. He was ultimately sentenced to 8 months in prison, in addition to two years of supervised probation. After serving two years behind bars, he was released in September 2019. Interestingly enough, parts of his court sentencing and events leading to his prison time were included in the third season of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.

Best known for his appearance on the reality T.V. travesty that was “Jersey Shore”, Paul DelVecchio, known professionally as Pauly D, hasn’t really been in the limelight since. A short-lived spin-off show and he was gone as quickly as he came, so where is he these days?

Pauly D Early Life and Jersey Shore

Pauly D was born in July 5th 1980 in Providence Rhode Island. His parents are Donna DiCarlo and Paul D. DelVecchio. He is of Italian and Brazilian descent. Before gaining national recognition for “Jersey Shore” he was a local DJ. He cites the late DJ AM as a primary influence on his music.

He claimed that his casting on “Jersey Shore” had nothing to do with his career as a DJ. MTV contacted him via his MySpace account claiming they liked his look, asking if they could send a camera crew to tail him for a day. The crew followed him through his daily routine and six months later he was cast. He appeared in 69 of the 72 episodes and developed something of a romance with co-star JWoww.

He gained a rabid fan-base and won the 2011 Teen Choice award for best reality star. Pauly D became the first house mate to get his own spin-off show. Called “The Pauly D Project” the show followed him around the country on tour as a DJ. It aired in March 2012 and lasted only one season.

He released his first single in 2010, “Beat Dat Beat”. The song harkens back to nineties house music with a slight jungle influence. It did not receive any critical reviews, but I would call it uninspired and a lame attempt to spring-board off his success on “Jersey Shore”. He was nominated for “America’s Best DJ” in 2010 and 2011, again likely because of “Jersey Shore”.

He signed a three album deal with 50 Cent’s label in 2011 but the partnership has yet to bear fruit, and has likely fallen apart. In 2012 he released the single “Back to Love” featuring Jay Sean. The single peaked at number 113 in the UK singles charts. He claims that his primary passion is touring as a DJ and will drop the occasional single as and when. If he ever has enough for an album he’ll release one.

What is Pauly D Doing Now?

He is a Father of one and was embroiled in a custody battle for his daughter, called Amabella Sophia. Pauly D claims that the mother, Amanda Markert, is unfit for the role. He came to an agreement with the mother for visitation rights and has worked out a temporary custody agreement.

Last year Pauly D appeared in the now cancelled “Snooki & JWoww”. The show was commissioned shortly after his own “The Pauly D Project” and was renewed for another season.

He has, since leaving Jersey Shore, been living and performing in Las Vegas, Nevada. He has been romantically linked to Aubrey O’Day after the pair shot E! TV original reality show,“Famously Single”. They have been shopping around another show as well, another reality show. No takers at the moment, but the pair are bankable enough, and I am sure we shall see them on TV again soon.

The post What Happened To Pauly D – News & Updates appeared first on Gazette Review.

Jennifer Lynn Farley, better known as JWoww, first came to prominence in the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore”. She was known for partying hard and drinking harder but has calmed down a little recently to start a family. Let’s take a closer look at what she’s doing these days.

JWoww’s Early Life

JWoww was born on February 27th 1986 in Franklin Square New York. She attended Columbia High School and the New York Institute of Technology. Before starting her career she was working as a nanny for small children. Before “Jersey Shore” she owned and operated a graphic design company called Jenni Farley Designs inc.

She joined the cast of “Jersey Shore” in December of 2009. The first season was a summer long party, with lip service paid to it being a job. Fights, love, and even an arrest made the first season a rousing ratings success. The Second season would fly the house mates south for the winter, to Miami, though it was still called “Jersey Shore” for some reason. Season three returned to the shore, season four was set in Firenze Italy and the fifth and final season returned to Jersey.

Using her new-found fame JWoww was able to launch a fashion line in 2010, dubbed Filthy Couture. It premiered in a Las Vegas runway show and ran for four months. Sales were ceased because of a trademark lawsuit. JWoww claimed that the line was not finished and that more would be released, but no new lines have been release.

In 2011 MTV announced two spin-off shows from “Jersey Shore”. The first was the short-lived “The Pauly D Project” which only lasted one season. The second was the far more successful “Snooki & JWoww”. The show launched in 2012 and followed the two New York born reality stars living in New Jersey City in an abandoned fire-house. Ratings were good and the show was renewed for a second season. The show concluded on February 4th 2015.

In what seems to be a theme for reality stars she released a book in 2010, complete with long-winded title. “The Rules According to JWOWW: Shore-Tested Secrets On Landing A Mint Guy, Staying Fresh To Death, and Kicking the Competition to the Curb”. The book seeks to inform women on how to land a husband. The hardback is currently available on amazon for $0.01. In 2012 she was sued for allegedly shooting several episodes of her reality show at her apartment without permission from her landlord.

JWoww launched her website in 2011. The site is filled with information on her, her home life, her diet and work out secrets and just whatever comes into to her head really. The site is regularly updated.

She hosted MTV’s Club New Year’s Eve 2013 with best friend and co-star Snooki and was voted by GQ as one of the sexiest 100 ladies of the 21st century. She got engaged to boyfriend Roger Mathews in September 2012 and announced on Christmas 2013 that they were having their first child.

She has been a strong proponent for gay rights and has come out strongly in support of the LGBT community. Citing her best friends inability to get married as her primary motivation. She has one two occasions gotten into twitter wars over the ignorant comments made by people she knows, including former co-star on “Jersey Shore” Angelina Pivarnick.

What is JWoww Doing Now in 2018?

JWoww and Roger appeared on the first “Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars” in May 2014. She and Roger were wed in October 2015 and announced at the reception that she was pregnant with her second child, a boy, due in May 2016.

She competed in “Worst Cooks in America: Celebrity Edition” last year, placing first. She also made her feature film début starring in the indie flick “The Mint” for which she also served as executive producer. Media these days is focused on both her rapid weight loss after her first pregnancy, her lack of a noticeable baby-bump and her new shorter hairstyle.

It is likely she will focus on her new child come May so expect more projects set for late 2016 rather than early and of course, her constantly updated website, twitter and instagram.

The post What Happened To JWoww – See What She’s Up to Now appeared first on Gazette Review.

Vinny Guadagnino gained a reputation as the nice guy on MTV’s “Jersey Shore”. The twenty-eight year old self-professed “Momma’s boy” gained a large fan-base for his honest straight forward manner and strong Italian roots. That isn’t to say that his time at the “Jersey Shore” house wasn’t without its drama. If the love-hate relationship with Angelina and the break down of his friendship with Snooki are any indication. But where has the “Natural entertainer” been hiding himself?

Vinny Guadagnino’s Early Life

Vinny Guadagnino was born on November 11th 1987 in Staten Island New York. He comes from a traditional Italian-American family, all close-knit relationships and good home cooked meals. His mother was born on the Italian Island of Sicily, where her family owns a farm. He graduated from the College of Staten Island, with a 3.9 GPA and was working as a political aide for Democratic Assemblyman Michael Cusicki. On the day “Jersey Shore” premiered he took the LSAT and intended to study law.

After “Jersey Shore” launched he became a national star. He gained a reputation as the quiet one of the bunch. Less confrontational and easier to get along with. He briefly hooked up with Angelina in the second season and was a constant companion and confidant to Snooki. During the entire run of the show he maintained a blog where he wrote poetry and short stories. Considering his well-educated background his inclusion in the cast was something of a surprise but he claims that the issues he feels strongly about never really came up in conversation. He felt he could showcase a different side to his personality.

Both during and after the “Jersey Shore” Vinny Guadagnino made appearances in scripted shows. He guest starred on an episode of “The Hard Times of RJ Berger” and the 2011 revival of “90210”. He also had a bit part in the SyFy original movie “Jersey Shore Shark Attack”. He started studying acting after “Jersey Shore” with a focus on comedy. In 2013 he hosted an unconventional talk show called “The Show with Vinny”. In it various celebrities were invited to his home to share a meal with his family and have candid conversations. The show lasted only one season.

In 2011 Vinny Guadagnino launched his own clothing line called IHAV. All the proceeds go to the Do Something anti-bullying charity. He supports animal rescue group Much Love and he participated in a charity auction for the group. He is also a supporter of Gay rights, being a presenter at the GLAAD Awards and worked with the NOH8 campaign. In 2012 he co-authored a book with Samantha Rose “Control The Crazy: My Plan to Stop Stressing, Avoid Drama and Maintain Inner Cool”.

What has Vinny Guadagnino Doing Now in 2018?

Most recently he has been a little strapped for cash, putting his 2013 Lamborghini up for auction on eBay. Vinny Guadagnino’s relationship with former cast mate Snooki fell apart last year after he allegedly insulted her. He was then not invited to her wedding. He has been starring in the off-Broadway production “That Bachelorette Show”. He plays Giovanni, suitor to Adriana Orlando. His performance has been praised on social media.

In addition, late 2016 saw a return to television for not only Vinny, but his loving Mother as well. The Food Network picked up a show starring the pair, as they traverse America eating all kinds of stuff. It will continue into 2017, and is proving to be a minor hit for the Network. It’s an entertaining little show, and for fans of Vinny it is a must watch.

The post What Happened To Vinny Guadagnino – See What He’s Up to Now appeared first on Gazette Review.

On MTV’s Jersey Shore, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro broke his number one rule: “Never fall in love at the Jersey Shore.” He dated Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola for most of the hit reality show. There relationship was openly toxic, with the couple breaking up several times during Jersey Shore’s six season run. Ronnie and Sammi finally called it quits in 2014, after five years together. In the time since, what has Ronnie Ortiz-Magro been up to?

Ronnie Ortiz-Magro in love at the Jersey Shore

Before joining the cast of Jersey Shore in August 2009, Ortiz-Magro was working with his father in real estate in the area. On the show, he was known for his open embrace of the show’s interpretation of the guido lifestyle. Most notable was his penchant for working out and physical altercations.

During the first season, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro was arrested after a fight, in which the victim, Stephen Izzo, claimed Ronnie suckerpunched him. Eventually, the charges were dismissed, on the condition Ortiz-Magro not be charged with further violent crimes. There’s still a civil suit pending against MTV for Ronnie’s actions, filed by Izzo.

When he wasn’t fighting strangers, Ronnie was often shown fighting his girlfriend, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola. They’d often very quickly move past their fights, with Sammi apologizing by saying things like “There’s things I’ve said I’m not proud of, you know that right?,” to which Ronnie would say, “Can I have a little mustard?”

Ronnie & then-girlfriend Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ on Jersey Shore

That’s actual dialog from the show. Having made it through that relationship, it’s easy to see how Sammie wound up hosting a podcast where she dishes out relationship advice.

Ronnie From Jersey Shore Now in 2018

Since the end of Jersey Shore, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro hasn’t really been in the press. He appeared with the rest of the cast from Jersey Shore in the 2012 movie The Three Stooges, and in commercials for a diet pill.

In March 2013, Ronnie released a line of Smush Cocktails, which are low calorie drink mixes. Flavors include CoSMUSH Cosmopolitans, SMUSHita Margarita, and SMUSHjito Mojito.

The endorsement of diet pills and creation of a cocktail line was, certainly, entirely unrelated to his hospitalization for kidney stones in April 2013.

After getting out of the hospital, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro went through a period where he stopped working out, though he made headlines for getting back in shape in just over four weeks.Je

On August 21, 2014, Ronnie and Sammi’s relationship ended for good, though in the press they said they were going to continue associating and being friends.

Pauly D (left) and Ronnie Ortiz-Magro (right) at Hard Rock Las Vegas

Most recently, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro can be seen with fellow Jersey Shore alum Paul DelVecchio, popularly known as DJ Pauly D. Pauly D, cardinal in the church of Gym, Tan, Laundry, has made a name for himself as a resident DJ in Las Vegas since the end of Jersey Shore. Ronnie has also been hosting nights at Chippendales at the Rio.

The post What Happened to Ronnie Ortiz-Magro From Jersey Shore? appeared first on Gazette Review.

Named for a character from “Save the Last Dance” Nicole, Snooki, Polizzi rose to prominence on the MTV reality show “Jersey Shore”. She was one of the breakout stars from the show. Since “Jersey Shore” she has been spun off in to her own show, co-starring with “Jersey Shore” alum JWoww. “Snooki & JWoww” ended in 2014 and since then she has diversified into all kinds of areas, podcasts, perfume and even books. So what is she doing these days?

Snooki’s Early Life

Snooki Before Jersey Shore

Snooki was born on November 23rd 1987 in Santiago Chile. She was adopted by Italian Americans, Andy and Helen Polizzi, living in New York. Since she was an infant when she left Chile she has never learned Spanish and instead embraced whole-heatedly the culture of her parents. As a teenager she got the nickname Snooki from her friends. Taken from a male character in “Save the Last Dance” because she was the first of her peer group to kiss a boy.

She first hit our screens in 2009 on the short-lived MTV reality show “Is she Really Going Out With Him?”. The show purportedly depicts beautiful women dating obnoxious guys. She and then boyfriend Justin Nolastname appeared in episode 14. Six months later she returned for “Jersey Shore” and a mildly annoying star was born.

She quickly established herself as a wild child, getting massively hammered in the first episode and jumping into the hot tub with the guys for a risqué hang out session. Such was her popularity on the show that she was one of the most worn Hallowe’en costumes in 2010. Her initial per episode fee of $5,000 was raised to $30,000 for the subsequent seasons. She was attacked early in the show’s run by Brad Ferro. The punch caused a spike in her appearance fees, no doubt fearing more public retribution. Brad was suspended from his job as a Gym teacher, shuffled around various teacher organizations and eventually fired. He found it so difficult to get a job after that he enlisted in the military.

Snooki After Jersey Shore

“Jersey Shore” ended in 2012 after six seasons. Snooki and co-star Jenni Farley signed a contract for a new show immediately after. It was the second “Jersey Shore” spin off. They called it “Snooki & JWoww”. The first season was set in Jersey, but negative public opinion caused a move to New York after shooting ended. The show ended in 2014. Snooki has since appeared all over the place. She was a presenter on the CMT Music Awards, appeared on the TLC reality show “Cake Boos”. In 2013 she was a contestant on the 17th season of “Dancing With the Stars”, in which she placed 8th.

She released a book in 2011, “A Shore Thing”, which sold poorly in spite of the strong promotional push. She lectured at Rutgers University to an auditorium of 1,00 people on the nature of modern celebrity in the post reality television world. She released her second novel in October of 2011, it sold slightly better than the first and released a third in 2012. She won an award in 2011 for her appearance on the WWE, where she wrestled in a three-way tag match.

Snooki(Left) and Joey Camasta(Right)

She married Jionni LaValle in 2014, after having met on the third season of “Jersey Shore”. There were unconfirmed reports in August 2015 that an account under his name had been found among the Ashley Madison leaks, though the couple has since denied any cheating. They have two children together.

What is Snooki Doing Now in 2018?

These days she works on her website where she, or some copy monkeys like m’self, writes articles on celebrity gossip and updates us on her own life. Snooki and JWoww have been pitching a new show, this time showcasing their family life and arts and crafts. The show debuted on YouTube but they are in negotiations with another online distributor. She also uploads other videos on her YouTube, on her kids in general and sometimes featuring former “Jersey Shore” stars.

She regularly releases a podcast on her own life and celebrity news with friend Joey Camasta, and has claimed that she is in negotiations for a new reality show. Her new book “Strong is the New Sexy” was released on December 22nd.

In more recent news Snooki, and her partner in crime JWOWW, have been starring in a new series on GO90, called Moms with Attitude. The pair are raising children and balancing their work life, and has proved to be a minor hit. In addition Snooki is a featured contestant on the new season of Celebrity Apprentice. Arnold Schwarzenegger hosts the show, and after a shakey performance early on, she is coming back with a vengeance. Should be a packed year for the former MTV reality star.

The post What Happened To Snooki – 2018 Jersey Shore News & Updates appeared first on Gazette Review.

Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola first made a name for herself on the controversial MTV reality series Jersey Shore, known for dating Ronnie Ortiz-Magro through most of the show. Now, the former reality star is working on a podcast, Just Sayin’. Now that she’s not living it up each summer in the Jersey Shore House, what else has she been doing?

Sammi Giancola Before Jersey Shore

Before being cast on Jersey Shore, Sammi Giancola was a star on her high school soccer team in Hazlet, New Jersey. After graduating, she enrolled at William Paterson University in 2005, where she studied Sociology and played on the women’s soccer team.

In 2009, as a senior, Sammi was cast for the upcoming Jersey Shore. Initially pitched to VH1, the show was felt to have a better fit with MTV, especially after the earlier success of The Hills. In seeking a more authentic documentary style, special attention was paid to casting, to make sure there would be natural development.

Sammi Sweetheart on Jersey Shore

The show was filmed in a summer house in Seasides Heights, New Jersey, using over fifty cameras, 35 permanent fixtures, and distinctive decor. It followed Sammi and the seven other housemates, and initially the show did not receive good ratings. After being lampooned on Saturday Night Live after its third episode, the show very quickly became the #1 show in its timeslot.

Sammi Giancola (right) with castmates Snooki (left) and Deena Cortese on Jersey Shore

But before the fame came instant notoriety. Jersey Shore was known for using the word “guido” (an ethnic slur) frequently and inappropriately. Before the show even aired the show was called “a direct, deliberate, and disgraceful attack on Italian Americans” by Unico National, an organization which represents the ethnicity. Other organizations joined in, with some advertisers asking that their ads not be shown during the show. Even New Jersey Governor Chris Christie acted, vetoing a tax incentive the show had been awarded.

The American public ate up everything about Jersey Shore, though. GTL (Gym, Tan, Laundry) became a known phrase, not just by supporters of the philosophy, but by those who used the show as something to make fun of. A second season was commissioned that winter, so was filmed in Miami, Florida, with the third season returning to the Jersey Shore House.

The fourth season of Jersey Shore was filmed in Italy, and premiered on August 4, 2011. The fifth season was back in Seaside Heights. There were some concerns during that season about the future of the show, due to several cast members receiving spin-off shows. A sixth season, which featured one of the cast members almost eight months pregnant, ran from October to December 2012.

On the show, Sammi Giancola had an on-again-off-again relationship with Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, which lasts through the show’s duration. Known as the “sweetest bitch you’ll ever know,” she spent most of her time emotionally abusing Ronnie, and harassing the other cast.
