Early Life and Rise to Fame

Victoria Beckham was born on April 17, 1974, in Harlow, England. The oldest of three children, she and her siblings grew up in the village of Goffs Oak, where her parents managed a successful electronics business. When she was six years old, she watched the musical film, Fame, which inspired her to pursue a music career. She later went to Jason Theatre School and the Laine Theatre Arts Academy, where she studied dance and modeling.

In 1994, she answered a casting call seeking female performers who could sing and dance. She was ultimately chosen out of 400 women, alongside Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, Melanie C, and Melanie B. The girls would eventually become the all-female pop group, the Spice Girls.

On June 26, 1996, they released their debut single, “Wannabe”, a dance-pop song, which focused on the value of female friendships. While it received mixed reviews from critics, it was a commercial hit; it topped the charts in numerous countries including the UK, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Israel, France, Finland, Australia, Belgium, and New Zealand. Not only that, but it also reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 music chart.

It eventually earned them a Brit Award and Ivor Novello Award for Best British-Written Single.

Victoria’s Music Career With the Spice Girls

Their first studio album, Spice, which incorporated elements of dance, hip hop, and R&B, came out on September 19, 1996. A worldwide hit, it peaked at number one in numerous countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, Austria, Canada, Norway, and France, and spawned three additional singles – “2 Become 1”, “Mama”, and “Say You’ll Be There.”

In November 1997, they released their second album, Spiceworld. Their last album with Geri Halliwell, it consisted of ten songs including “Spice Up Your Life”, “Move Over”, “Never Give Up on the Good Times”, “The Lady Is a Vamp”, “Viva Forever”, and “Stop.” Another commercial success, it entered the UK Albums Chart at number one with more than 190,000 sales within the first week. It also topped the charts in 13 other countries including the United States, Canada, France, Australia, and Switzerland.

That same year, they starred in a musical comedy film, Spice World, where all of the girls played themselves. Despite negative reviews from critics, it was a box office success. In the United States alone, it grossed $10.5 million during the opening weekend.

By early 1998, it was announced that the Spice Girls would be embarking on their first concert tour. The Spiceworld Tour, as it was eventually called, kicked off in February 1998 and continued until September 1998. In total, there were 97 shows, 41 of which were in North America. To date, it remains the highest-grossing tour ever by an all-girls group.

Following the tour, the girls began to work on their own solo projects, and thus the group was put on hiatus.

Her Solo Music Career

On August 14, 2000, Beckham made her first appearance as a solo artist in the single, “Out of Your Mind”. A collaboration with Dane Bowers and True Steppers, it ended up reaching number two on the UK Singles music chart.

Prior to that, she had performed the song “Out of Your Mind” at London’s Hyde Park to raise funds for the Prince’s Trust charity.

Shortly afterward, she signed a recording contract with Virgin Records, the same company that the Spice Girls had worked with. Her debut solo single, “Not Such an Innocent Girl” was later released on September 17, 2001. Produced by Steve Kipner, it peaked at number 6 in the UK and charted in several other countries including Italy, Belgium, Scotland, Spain, Europe, and the Netherlands. It was also accompanied by a music video that featured two Victorias: one that’s dressed in all black (‘the bad girl’) and one that’s dressed in all-white (‘the good girl’).

Her first and only studio album, Victoria Beckham soon followed. Released on October 1, 2001, it consisted of 12 tracks including “A Mind of Its Own”, “That Kind of Girl”, “Every Party of Me”, “Watcha Talkin’ Bout”, “Midnight Fantasy”, and “Girlfriend.” While reviews were mixed, it reached number 10 on the UK Albums Chart. It also charted in Australia, Ireland, and Scotland.

The second and final single to be released from her eponymous solo album, “A Minds of Its Own”, came out on February 11, 2002 (she had previously promoted a third single but it was ultimately shelved following the announcement of her second pregnancy). In the UK, it peaked and entered the music chart at number six with over 56,000 sales. A number of behind the scene videos were also included in the DVD release.

Signing a new contract with 19 Management and Telstar Records, she began working on a new album in 2003. However, she was unsatisfied with the results; she subsequently returned to the studio to record new material.

Her first single with Telstar, “This Groove”/Let Your Head Go” later came out on December 29, 2003, in the UK. Released as a double A-side, it debuted on the UK Singles Chart at number three and also charted in Europe, Scotland, Romania, and Ireland. To promote the single, Beckham also made a number of television appearances during the holiday period.

Beckham had planned on releasing a second single titled, “My Love Is For Real” in the summer of 2004 but it was ultimately shelved after Telstar announced bankruptcy in April 2004. As a result, she gave up on her music career to focus on fashion instead.

Reuniting with the Spice Girls

In 2007, the Spice Girls returned for a reunion tour, which saw them performing in over 20 cities across North America and Europe. The tour began in Vancouver, Canada on December 2, 2007, and continued for several weeks before ending in Toronto, Canada on February 28, 2008. One of the highest-grossing concert tours of 2008, each of the girls including Beckham, allegedly earned  £10 million. Unlike her bandmates, however, Beckham did not sing a solo song on the tour. Rather, she posed in the style of a fashion show.

A second reunion came in 2012 when the Spice Girls performed a medley at the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London. During the final minutes of their performance, they each climbed on top of their decorated taxis for a lap around the stadium, which thrilled everyone in attendance.

The girl group reunited a third time for a 2019 concert tour, however, Beckham chose not to participate as she wanted to focus on her fashion brand instead.

Victoria Beckham’s Fashion Career

Beckham launched her eponymous fashion label in September 2008. Since then, the brand has expanded to include luxury handbags and other products. In the first quarter of 2011-12 alone, it generated more than £60 million in sales. That same year, she received a British Fashion Award for Designer Brand of the Year. As of 2026, there are more than 400 stores around the world.

Prior to that, she had made numerous appearances on the runway and had also acted as a fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar.  She had also launched her own denim label and eyewear collection, both of which were made available at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. In 2007, she also launched her own line of perfumes in the United States.

In 2019, she also launched a beauty brand called, “Victoria Beckham Beauty”, which uses 100% post-consumer waste for its secondary packaging; its shipping materials are also biodegradable or recyclable. Their first line of products included eyeliner and eye shadow palettes. A line of lip tints and pencils was later released the following month.

Her Other Endeavors

Over the years, she has made numerous television appearances. In 2000, she starred in her own documentary, which aired on Channel 4 in the UK. Victoria’s Secrets, as it was titled, followed the former Posh Spice as she interviewed other celebrities including Elton John. A second documentary called, Being Victoria Beckham, was later released in March 2002. Unlike the first episode, it followed her at various recording and photoshoot sessions and also saw her discussing her career as a solo artist

It was followed by three additional documentaries: The Real Beckham, which focused on her and her husband’s move to Madrid, Full Length & Fabulous: The Beckham’s 2006 World Cup Party, which centered around them hosting a party at a marquee in their Hertfordshire mansion, and Victoria Beckham: Coming to America, which documented her family’s move to the United States.

An unscripted reality series, it premiered on July 16, 2007, in the US and Canada. However, it was heavily scrutinized by critics. Still, it was one of the most-watched programs in its time slots. That same year, she made a brief cameo in the ABC comedy-drama Ugly Betty.

Since then, she has appeared in several other shows including Jimmy Kimmel Live!, The Ellen Degeneres Show, Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Ryan, and Entertainment Tonight. In 2008, she was also a guest judge for the fourth season of Project Runway,

Aside from appearing on television, she has also written a couple of books. Her first, Learning to Fly, was released on September 13, 2001. An autobiography, it documented her time with the Spice Girls, her childhood, her career at the time, as well as her marriage and family life. Not only that, but she also talked about her eating disorder. Met with positive reviews, the book eventually became the third best-selling non-fiction title of the year. In the US alone, more than 500,000 copies were sold.

Her second book, That Extra Half an Inch: Hair, Heels, and Everything in Between was released on October 27, 2006. A fashion advice guide, it included tips on fashion, beauty, and style. Another best-seller, it has since been published in the US, Russia, China, Japan, Portugal, Lithuania, and the Netherlands.

The Beckhams’ oldest son, Brooklyn, recently tied the knot with 27-year-old actress Nicola Peltz, on April 9, 2022; the two had previously dated for two years. According to an interview, the newlyweds currently split their time between Palm Beach and LA.

As for their second-oldest son, Romeo, he has relocated to Miami for work, and since Cruz is in between boarding school and home, they only have one kid left at home- their 10-year-old daughter, Harper.

Geri Halliwell’s Rise to Fame

Geri Halliwell was born on August 6, 1972, in the town of Watford. Growing up, she and her family lived in public housing in North Watford. She went to Camden School for Girls and Watford Grammar School for Girls and eventually worked as a dancer at a local nightclub after graduating. She was also a glamour model and hosted the Turkish version of the reality game show, Let’s Make a Deal.

At the age of 22, she responded to a casting call that she found on The Stage magazine alongside Mel B, Melanie C, and Victoria Beckham. Following a successful audition, she became an official member of the group. The girls later signed a recording deal with 19 Entertainment in 1995.

On June 7, 1996, the Spice Girls, as they were known as, came out with their first ever single, “Wannabe”. It proved to be a major hit, reaching the top of music charts in more than 35 different countries, including the UK, Australia, Belgium, Ireland, New Zealand, Europe, and the United States, among several others. Before long, it had become the best-selling single by an all-girls group of all time with millions of sales worldwide.

Shortly afterward, each of the girls was given a nickname and because of her  flaming red hair”, Halliwell was known as “Ginger Spice.”

Leaving the Spice Girls For a Solo Music Career

In May 1998, Halliwell announced that she would be leaving the girls due to mental health issues and differences between the members. Prior to leaving, she had been traveling for their debut concert tour, The Spiceworld Tour. As a result, the girls had to complete their North American tour without her.

They also co-wrote a few songs about Halliwell including “Let Love Lead the Way”, “Goodbye”, and “Tell Me Why”, which were included in their album Forever.

Just a year after leaving the Spice Girls, Halliwell launched her solo music career with the album Schizophonic. Produced by Phil Bucknall and Absolute, it consisted of several tracks including “Look at Me”, “Bag It Up”, “Lift Me Up”, and “Mi Chico Latino”, all of which peaked at number one in the UK Singles Chart. In 2001, she released her second solo album, Scream If You Wanna Go Faster. In the UK, it peaked at number five with more than 200,000 copies sold. In May 2005, she released a new single titled “Desire”, which reached the top of the UK Dance Charts and number 22 on the UK Singles Chart. Not long afterward, she dropped her third solo album, Passion. However, it received minimal attention from critics and the public. As a result, her recording contract with EMI was not renewed. In fact, she had stated that she was not interested in producing another album. Rather, she was more interested in being a mother and writing children’s books (she had given birth to a daughter in 2006).

Ginger Spice Reuniting With the Spice Girls

In the summer of 2007, the Spice Girls announced that they would be regrouping for a reunion tour; it would be their second time touring as a quintet since 1998. The Return of the Spice Girls Tour, as it was called, consisted of 47 shows and ended up being a huge success; more than 581,000 tickets were sold for a gross of $70 million.

The girls reunited for a second time at the closing creepy of the 2012 Olympic Games in London, where they performed a medley of “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life”. They also worked with Judy Grammar and Jennifer Saunders on a musical called Viva Forever, which is based on their songs. It was later released in December 2012.

That same year, Halliwell made her first solo appearance at the Breast Cancer Care- her first in seven years- where she debuted a new song titled “Phenomenal Women”. Halliwell’s fourth solo album, Man on the mountain was eventually leaked onto the internet in November 2016. It consisted of 13 songs, including “Sheriff”, “Phenomenal Woman”, and “Love and Light.” She also released a charity single the following June, to help raise funds for Childline.

Two years later, the Spice Girls announced their second reunion tour. Their first tour without Beckham, it included performances in the UK and Ireland. And like their previous tours, it was so popular that several ticket-selling websites crashed due to an overwhelming amount of people trying to buy tickets. Their final performance at Wembley Stadium went on to earn them the Top Boxscore Award at the 2019 Billboard Live Music Awards.

In 1999, Halliwell wrote a book titled If Only, which described her life with the Spice Girls. It sold more than a million copies in the UK alone and reached the top of many best-seller lists. The profits were later donated to a Breast Cancer charity.

Her second autobiography, Just For the Record, was released in 2002 and detailed her rise to prominence as well as her celebrity lifestyle.

And in 2007, she signed a multi-book deal with Macmillan Children’s Books. The first book went on to sell over 250,000 copies within the first five months, making her the most successful celebrity children’s author of 2008.

That’s not all, she has also appeared on television and on film many times (in addition to her appearances with the Spice Girls). In 1999, she starred in a TV documentary titled Geri, which attracted more than 4.5 million viewers. She has also released a couple of yoga DVDs called Geri Body Yoga and Geri Yoga.

Mel C’s Early Life and Rise to Fame

Mel C was born on January 12, 1974, in the small town of Whiston. The daughter of Alan Chisholm and Joan O’Neil, she grew up in the town of Widnes. When she was still a young child, her parents separated. Her mother later remarried; one of her step-siblings includes Paul O’Neill, the auto racing driver.

After graduating from Junior School, she went to a co-educational secondary school in a nearby town. From there, she studied singing, musical theatre, dancing, and drama at a local college in London.

While she was there, she responded to an ad in a magazine- one that was seeking female performers for an all-girls group. Auditions took place in Balderton Street, London, and Mel C was ultimately chosen to be a member, along with Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Victoria Beckham, and Emma Bunton.

After touring various record companies in LA and London, the girls signed a recording contract with Virgin. Their first-ever studio album, Spice, came out in the fall of 1996 and was a worldwide hit. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number one and also topped the charts in over 15 different countries. In total, four singles were released from the album – “Say You’ll Be There”, “Wannabe”, “2 Become 1”, and “Mama”.

The lead single, “Wannabe”, ended up peaking at number one in nearly 40 different countries worldwide including Australia, Denmark, Europe, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Norway, New Zealand, and the United States.

Performing With the Spice Girls as Sporty Spice

Mel C and the girls came out with their second studio album, Spiceworld, in November 1997. As with their previous release, it included pop music with dance-pop songs. More than 1.4 million copies were shipped within the first week in the United Kingdom, where it debuted at number one. By 1999, the girls had begun to pursue solo music careers, including Mel C. Signing with Virgin Records, she released her first solo project, Northern Star, on October 18, 1999. Recorded with the help of several producers, it combined pop music with elements of trance, dance, rock, R&B, techno-rock, and electronica.

Upon release, the album debuted at number 10 in the United Kingdom. Sales eventually went up with the release of her new song, “Never Be the Same Again.” It later reached number four on the UK Albums Chart; it also reached the top ten in Ireland, Hungary, Finland, Germany, Norway, and a few other countries.

Some highlights from the album include “Never Be the Same Again”, “If That Were Me, “Go!”, “I Turn to You”, and “Suddenly Monday”, all of which were co-written by Mel C.

To support the album, she also embarked on a concert tour. The Northern Star Tour, as it was called, consisted of 76 dates and saw her performing in 30 different countries across four continents.

Not long afterward, she began to work on her second album. The first single, “Here It Comes Again”, was eventually released on February 24, 2003. A month later, she released her another solo album titled, Reason, which consisted of 12 tracks including “Positively Somewhere”, “Lose Myself In You”, “Yeh Yeh Yeh”, “Let’s Love”, “On the Horizon”, and “Reason.” While it didn’t perform as well as her debut project, it was certified Gold in the UK, with more than 101,000 copies sold.

To promote the project, she embarked on another tour in the spring of 2003. Unlike the Northern Star Tour, however, it only included dates in Europe.

In January 2004, she left Virgin Records and launched her own recording label, Red Girl Records. That same year, she embarked on a mini-concert tour and finished recording her third solo album. Beautiful Intentions, as it was called, was later released on April 11, 2005. A commercial success, it charted in the top 20 in Scotland, Austria, Portugal, Switzerland, and Germany and reached number 24 in the United Kingdom.

The album spawned three singles, “First Day of My Life”, “Better Alone”, and “Next Best Superstar”, two of which went on to become the most downloaded song in Germany. Like before, she also promoted the album with a tour, which began on April 16, 2004, in Birmingham, London.

A year later, she dropped her subsequent album titled, This Time. Written and recorded throughout 2006 and 2007, it included 13 tracks, many of which were co-written by Mel C herself, and featured the singles, “This Time”, “The Moment You Believe”, “Understand”, “I Want Candy”, and “Carolyna.” However, it garnered mixed reception from critics and failed to chart within the top 20 in the UK.

That same year, it was announced that the Spice Girls would be coming back for a concert tour- one that would include shows around the world; it would also be their first time performing together since 1999. The tour ultimately kicked off on December 2, 2007, in Vancouver and continued for 47 dates, before ending at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Mel C and the rest of the girls were reportedly paid £1 million (approximately $1.2 million USD) for their performances.

A few years after their reunion, Mel C released her fifth studio album, The Sea, which was preceded by the single, “Rock Me”. Recorded in London, it consisted of 11 tracks including “Think About It”, “One By One”, “Get Out of Here”, Stupid Game”, Beautiful Mind”, and Burn.” In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 6 on the Independent Albums chart and at number 45 on the UK Albums Chart; it also charted in Austria, Switzerland, Scotland, and Germany.

And in 2012, she released a cover album titled, Stages, which included song covers from various films and musical theatre shows. To promote its release, Mel C held several album signing sessions in HMV. She also performed one of the songs, “I Don’t Know How to Live Him”, on The Late Late Show, QVC, This Morning, and Superstar.

Several years later in 2016, she released her seventh studio album, Version of Me. Praised by critics, it included 11 songs, all of which featured elements of electronica and R&B. In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 2 on the Indie Albums chart and at number 25 on the UK Albums chart. It also charted in Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Scotland, and Ireland. Her highest-charting album since Beautiful Intentions, it led to the release of four singles, “Anymore”, “Room For Love”, “Dear Life”, and “Hold On”. She also hit the road for a tour to promote the album, which saw her performing in 14 different cities.

Sporty Spice Reuniting with the Spice Girls Again

In August 2012, Mel C reunited with the rest of the Spice Girls to perform at the Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London. They performed a medley of “Wannabe” and “Spice Up Your Life”, which ended up being the most tweeted moment of the Olympic Games on Twitter.

After a failed reunion project in 2016, the girls got together for a reunion tour in 2019. Their first time performing together since the Olympics, it consisted of 13 dates and began on May 24, 2019 at Croke Park in Dublin, and concluded with three sell-out concerts in London. Aside from singing, she has also dabbed in several projects as an actress. In 2009, she made her debut in the musical production, Blood Brothers, where she played the role of Mrs. Johnstone. For her portrayal, she was nominated for Best Actress in a Musical at the Laurence Olivier Awards.

On October 2, 2020, Mel C released her eighth solo album, Melanic C. It entered the UK Albums Chart at number eight and peaked at the top of the UK Independent Albums Chart. Not only that, but it also charted in Australia, Ireland, Scotland, Switzerland, and Germany.

Preceded by four singles, the album, which received generally favorable reviews from critics, consisted of 10 songs including “Fearless (ft. Nadia Rose)”, “End of Everything”, “In and Out of Love”, “Who I Am”, “Blame It On Me”, and “Good Enough”.

Prior to that, she had also sung one of the songs on The Late Late Show with James Corden, where she live-streamed the performance from her house due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

A deluxe version of the album was later released on September 3, 2021. She also recorded a new video for her cover of “Touch Me”.

That same month, it was announced that she would be joining the 30th season of Dancing with the Stars as a contestant. She ultimately finished in eleventh place after being voted out during the fifth episode. She also joined the judging panel of The Voice Kids and made appearances in Celebrity Gogglebox, Entertainment Tonight, and A Very Boy Band Holiday.

More recently, she appeared as a guest judge on RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK Versus the World, where she made hilarious shady comments about her former bandmate, Victoria Beckham. In April 2022, she was also featured in Tobtok’s remix of Train’s “AM Gold.”

She has also written a memoir titled, The Sporty One: My Life as a Spice Girl”, which is scheduled to be released on September 27, 2022. For those who are interested, the book is available for preorder at various retailers.

Early Life and Rise to Stardom

Melanie Brown, aka “Mel B”, was born on May 29, 1975, in West Yorkshire, England. She is of Nevisian descent on her father’s side and Welsh and English descent on her mother’s side. Growing up, she lived in the Kirkstall area and attended Intake High School, where she studied performing arts. After graduating, she worked as a dancer in Blackpool, Lancashire.

In 1994, she responded to an ad in The Star magazine, which said they were looking for female performers for an all-girls pop act. She was ultimately chosen after singing “Greatest Love of All” at the audition, along with Emma Bunton, Victoria Beckham, Melanie Chisholm, and Geri Halliwell.

The group – later known as the Spice Girls – signed with Virgin Records the following year and released their debut single, “Wannabe” on June 26, 1996. Despite the fact that it was recorded very quickly, which the group wasn’t happy about, it became a major hit, topping the music chart in numerous countries including the UK, US, Denmark, Europe, Australia, Ireland, Italy, and many others. By the end of the year, they had become a global phenomenon, with millions of copies sold worldwide.

Mel B’s Music Career as Scary Spice of the Spice Girls

Their debut album, Spice, also proved to be a huge commercial success. Not only did it top the music charts in more than 17 countries, but it also received multi-platinum certification in 27 countries. By the end of 1997, it had become the world’s best-selling album of the year, having sold 19 million copies. In total, four singles were released from the hit album – “2 Become 1”, “Say You’ll Be There”, “Wannabe”, and “Mama/Who Do you Think You Are.”

Their subsequent album, Spiceworld, was also met with positive reviews. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums chart and reached the top in several European countries including the Netherlands, Austria, Ireland, Norway, and Denmark. It also performed well in the United States, where it entered the chart at number eight on the Billboard 200.

To promote the album, they embarked on their first concert tour, The Spiceworld Tour, which kicked off in Dublin, Ireland, and ended at London’s Wembley Stadium after 97 shows across Europe and North America. To date, it’s the highest-grossing tour by an all-girls group.

They were also given a film, Spiceworld: The Movie, which despite mediocre reviews, was a commercial success, having grossed $100 million worldwide. A musical comedy, it centered around the girls as they performed in London. Directed by Bob Spiers, it was released in late 1997 in the UK and on January 23, 1998, in North America.

Several additional songs followed including “Stop” and “Goodbye”, the latter of which was a tribute to Halliwell, who had left during their Spiceworld tour.

Mel B’s Solo Music Career

By the late 90s, the girls had begun to drift apart to pursue other projects and Mel B was no exception. After recording a couple of singles, she released her debut album, Hot, on October 9, 2000. The standard edition consisted of 11 tracks including “Feels So Good”, “I Want You Back (ft. Missy Elliott)”, “Pack Your Shit (ft. Eric Williams), ”Hell No”, and “Step Inside.”

In the United Kingdom, it peaked at number 28 and sold more than 60,000 copies, earning it a silver certification. It also charted in Japan, Germany, and Scotland. By 2001, it had spawned four singles including “Feels So Good”, which helped the album re-enter the music chart in the UK.

She eventually left Virgin Records in 2001 and for several years, she focused her attention on acting. It wasn’t until four years later that she came back to the music scene with a second studio album, L.A. State of Mind. Unlike her previous album, it was released through her own label, Amber Cafe, and featured acoustic music instead of hip-hop sounds. Some of its tracks included ‘Stay in Bed Days”, “Say Say Say”, “Hold On”, “Music of the Night (Period)”, and “Beautiful Girl”, all of which were co-written by Mel B.

Mel B also embarked on a two-week tour to promote the album. Despite that, it was a commercial failure, with less than 1,500 copies sold worldwide.

Mel B’s Television and Film Career

As it is, her acting career was a lot more successful. In 2003, she landed her first movie role in the dark comedy, Burn It, which also starred Chris Coghill, William Ash, Kieran O’Brien, and Lisa Faulkner. A string of roles soon followed, which saw her in LD 50 Lethal Dose, The Vagina Monologues, and The Seat Filler. And in 2004, she was invited to join the musical Rent in the Netherlands, where she played the role of Mimi Marquez.

After starring in the musical, she landed a leading role in Telling Lies, a thriller film. She also appeared as herself in the documentary, Giving You Everything.

Putting acting aside, she later joined the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars with Maksim Chmerkovskiy as her partner. The two ultimately ended in second place, after losing to Julianne Hough and Helio Castroneves.

That same year, she reunited with the rest of the Spice Girls for a reunion tour, which included 47 shows across North America and Europe. It was the group’s first time performing together since their 1999 tour – Christmas in Spiceworld. And like their previous tours, demand was incredibly high – so high that many dates sold out within one minute.

Following the tour, Mel B returned to television. She appeared in Loose Women, Living on the Breadline, and was a presenter on the competition series, Dance Your Ass Off. She was also given her own reality show, Mel B: It’s a Scary World, which premiered on September 5, 2010, on the Style Network. Co-created by the singer herself, it followed her and her blended family as they deal with her daily life as a wife, mother, entertainer, and businesswoman.

She was also a guest on the second season of The X Factor Australia; she later joined the judging panel in season three and stayed until season four before leaving and returning in 2016. She also appeared as a judge on Britain’s Next Top Model, America’s Got Talent, The Voice Kids: Australia, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Stepping Out.

She appeared in a couple of films during that period as well, though they’re fairly minor compared to her accomplishments in reality television.

Scary Spice Reuniting With the Spice Girls Again

In the summer of 2012, Mel B reunited with the Spice Girls for a special performance at the Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony, which took place in London. Allegedly, they were reluctant to appear but had relented after talking with their former manager Simon Fuller. They ended up performing a medley of their 90s hits “Spice Up Your Life” and “Wannabe”, which became the most tweeted event of the entire Olympic games.

During the performance, the girls entered the stadium in black cabs, each of which was decorated with their individual trademark emblems. They later merged from the cabs and performed the songs from the roofs of the cars, which proceeded to race around the stadium.

Several years later, they reunited once again for the Spice World – 2019 Tour. Mel B and the rest of the girls were reportedly paid £12 million for the tour (Beckham had chosen not to participate), which began on May 24, 2019, in Dublin, Ireland. Across all the shows, there were nearly 700,000 fans in attendance. By the end of the 13-sold-out dates, the tour had earned more than $78 million in ticket sales.

Their three-night sellout stand in London, England, also earned them the Billboard Live Music Award for Top Boxscore in 2019.

What’s Mel B Doing Now in 2026 – Recent Updates

From 2019 to 2020, Mel B was a team captain on the comedy panel game, Celebrity Juice. She also appeared as a celebrity expert on the Spice Girls in Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel.

More recently, she appeared on the second season of The Masked Singer UK, a reality singing competition in which celebrities perform while wearing elaborate head-to-toe costumes to conceal their identities from the audience, panelists, and other contestants.

Disguised as a Seahorse, Mel B went on to finish in 11th place. She also appeared in the Spanish version of the show, Mask Singer: Adivina quién canta, where performed as the jellyfish. She was eventually voted out during the fifth episode.

Around that same time, she was a guest on Name That Tune, where she guessed songs played by a live band.

And earlier this year, she reunited with Emma Bunton aka “Baby Spice” in the reality competition series, The Circle. Unlike the other contestants, however, they did not compete. Rather, they only joined the show to increase the prize fund.

It has also been announced that she will be joining the judging panel in the fourth season of The Masked Singer Australia, which will be premiering later this year. That’s not all, she’ll also be replacing Leona Lewis as a judge on Queen of the Universe, a reality series in which a group of contestants competes for $250,000.

Aside from her gigs on reality TV, she also made an appearance in the short film, Love Should Not Hurt in 2021, which was produced in support of Women’s Aid. She was later appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire for her services to vulnerable women and charitable causes. Not only that but she was also appointed as a tourism ambassador from the UK to Nevis.

She also released a memoir titled, “Brutally Honest: A Sunday Times Bestseller” in 2018, in which she talks about the pain and struggles that lay behind glamor and success.

Emma Bunton’s Early Life and Rise to Fame

Bunton was born in Finchley, London on January 21, 1976. At the age of 11, her parents split. She chose to stay with her mother and attended St. Theresa’s Roman Catholic Primary School as a young child. She eventually attended Sylvia Young Theatre School, where she befriended Keeley Hawes.

In 1994, a group of girls applied after seeing an advertisement in The Stage; they would eventually become known as the Spice Girls. A few months after they got together, Bunton joined the group (then called Touch), replacing Michelle Stephenson, who was replaced due to a lack of commitment.

They signed a recording deal with Virgin Records and eventually released their debut single “Wannabe” in 1996, which ended up topping the music charts in 37 different countries worldwide. That same year, they released their debut album, Spice. A huge commercial success, it received multi-platinum certification in more than 25 different countries. By 1997, it had become the best-selling album of the year worldwide, with more than 19 million copies sold. Four singles were released from the album including “Who Do You Think You Are”, “2 Becomes 1”, “Wannabe”, and “Say You’ll Be There.”

With the Spice Girls, Bunton released two additional albums- Spiceworld in 1997 and Forever in 2000. Both were huge hits. The former reached number one in a handful of countries and the latter sold more than 4 million copies worldwide. Together with the group, she also went on a number of tours including Girl Power! Live in Istanbul in 1997, Spiceworld Tour in 1998, and Christmas in Spiceworld Tour in 1999.

Bunton’s Solo Music Career and Motherhood

In May 1998, Geri Halliwell left the group, citing creative differences and exhaustion. The rest of the girls carried on as a four-piece for the next couple of years before entering a hiatus at the end of 2000 to concentrate on their individual careers.

On April 16, 2001, Bunton released her debut solo album, A Girl Like Me. It debuted and peaked at number four in the UK and lead to the release of three singles- “What Took You So Long?”, “We’re Not Gonna Sleep Tonight”, and “Take My Breath Away.” Despite that, reviews were mixed. People praised the album for its catchy songs but many criticized it for its generic nature.

She eventually parted ways with Virgin Records and signed a new contract with 19 Recordings, which was run by Simon Fuller, the Spice Girls’ former manager. With them, she released her second solo album, Free Me on February 9, 2004. Produced by Yak Bondy and Mike Peden, it consisted of a dozen songs including “Maybe”, “I’ll Be There”, “Crickets Sing for Anamaria”, and “Free Me”. Critically acclaimed, the album peaked at number seven in the UK and spawned three top 10 singles.

Two years later, she released a charity album, where she covered Petula Clark’s “Downtown.” Shortly afterward, she came out with her third solo album, Life in Mono, which was inspired by 1960s sounds like pop, bossa nova, and motown.

Due to her pregnancy, however, all forms of promotion for the album were canceled. She and her husband Jade Jones, whom she eventually married in 2021, eventually welcomed their first child, a son named Beau, on August 10, 2007. She later gave birth to a second child named Tate on May 6, 2011.

Reuniting with the Spice Girls as Baby Spice

It was announced in 2007 that the Spice Girls would be regrouping one final time for The Return of the Spice Girls concert. Not only was it their first tour since 1999, but it was also their first concert with all five members since the Spiceworld Tour in 1998. Prior to hitting the road, they also released a compilation album, which consisted of their Greatest Hits. The tour eventually ended on February 26, 2008, after 47 shows.

The group eventually reunited as a quintet several years later for the 2012 Summer Olympics closing ceremony, where they performed a medley of “Spice Up Your Life” and “Wannabe.” Their performance was the most tweeted moment of the event with more than 116,000 tweets per minute.

Their third reunion came in November 2018 with the announcement of the Spice World – 2019 Tour. It began on May 24, 2019, in Croke Park, Dublin, and ended in London, England on June 15, 2019, after more than a dozen shows.

Bunton’s Other Ventures

Bunton has appeared on television many times throughout her career. In fact, she had appeared on the small screen several times prior to joining the Spice Girls. Not long after the group went on hiatus, she starred in the TV documentary, Emma Goes to Bollywood, in which she traveled to Mumbai, India to record the films Chocolate and Pyaar Mein Twist.

In 2008, she also appeared on the UK version of The X Factor to assist Danni Minogue in choosing the best acts to proceed to the live shows. She also made her debut in the talk show Loose Women on ITV.

Since then, she has made several additional appearances in Dancing on Ice, The Million Pound Drop Live, Celebrity Juice, Boy Band, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, and The Great American Baking Show. In 2012, she also appeared as herself in the Spice Girls documentary, The Spice Girls Story: Viva Forever!.

As a voice actress, she also lent her voice to Muhimu in the Disney animated series, The Lion Guard and to Mama Bear in the 2018 animated film, Smallfoot. She also played various characters in Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution, which came out in 2019.

That’s not all, she’s also been active on Radio. In 2009, she starred as a guest presenter on Heart Breakfast alongside Harriet Scott and Jamie Theakston. That same year, she began hosting her own pre-recorded radio show on Heart. Following Harrier Scott’s departure from the radio show in the fall of 2012, Bunton succeeded her as co-host. She ultimately co-presented with Theakston until the end of 2018; she made her final appearance on December 14. For her work in radio, she received a “Digital Radio Programme” and “Radio Presenter of the Year Award” in March 2017.

In 2017, she also launched a sustainable nursery brand called Kit & Kin with business partner Christopher Money, which specializes in producing rainforest-saving, eco-friendly nappies. She’d decided to start her own company after her own children suffered from eczema and she struggled to find the right products that wouldn’t irritate their skin. After finding out that many baby products contained harmful ingredients, she sought to create her own. Around that same time, she was introduced to Money through a mutual friend.

What’s Emma Bunton Doing Now in 2026 – Recent Updates on Baby Spice

Earlier this year, she hosted the Concert For Ukraine alongside Marvin Humes and Roman Kemp, which helped to raise funds for those fleeing conflict in Ukraine. A two-hour benefit concert, it took place on March 29, 2022, at Birmingham’s Resorts World Arena, and was broadcasted on television.

She also appeared in the fourth season of The Circle, a reality competition series in which contestants live in the same apartment building but are not allowed to meet or interact with each other. She competed in season four alongside Mel B, as catfish “Jared”, and made it to the fifth episode before leaving. Unlike the rest of the contestants, however, the two only competed to help increase the prize money; they were not competing to win and as such, did not partake in ratings.

Since 2018, Bunton has also been hosting Sunday Evenings, a Sunday night radio show on Heart that airs from 7 pm to 10 pm. According to The Sun, she has banked more than £1.3m from her radio and TV gigs.

In 2019, she also released her fourth solo album, My Happy Place, which consisted of ten tracks, eight of which are cover versions of some of her favorite songs. It also included two originals, which are co-written by Bunton. While critics praised the maturity and cheerfulness of the album, many thought that it lacked personality. In the UK, it reached number three on the Independent Album chart, and in the US, it peaked at number seven on the Billboard Top Heatseekers Albums chart.

Last year, she also released a book titled, “Mama You Got This: A Little Helping Hand For New Parents”, which includes supportive advice and stories for the first year. Not only has it received positive reviews from parents (it currently has a 4.7-star rating on Amazon out of more than 110 reviews), but it has also since become a Sunday Times Bestseller.

What Happened to the Spice Girls? 2018 Recent Update

Over the past years, the Spice Girls have reunited a few times. Most recently, three of the members- Halliwell, Buton, and Brown, put up a website called “Spice Girls – GEM” in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Wannabe in 2016. Despite their best efforts to put something together, however, the reunion project ultimately fell through- one of the reasons being Halliwell’s pregnancy.

Previous to that, the last time that the group had performed together was during the closing ceremony at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, during which they performed two of their most popular songs, Spice Up Your Life and Wannabe.

What has Mel B been up to?

Though she hasn’t been active much on the music front, she has been featured in a few recent television programs. For instance, she served as one of the guest panelists on the British panel show, Loose Women earlier this year. A singer turned TV star, Bunton has been involved with several shows over the past few years including The Lion Guard, Not Going Out, and Tim Vine Travels in Time. About the Spice Girls

Their next reunion came in 2012 when they performed two of their most popular songs at the closing ceremony for the London Summer Olympic Games. Later that same year, they also appeared at the premiere of Viva Forever!, the Spice Girls musical. A documentary about the project titled, Spice Girls’ Story: Viva Forever! was later released in December 2012.
