23-Year-Old College Student Mauled to Death While Pet Sitting

A 23-year-old college student who was only months away from graduating was killed in a dog attack while pet sitting in Texas.

On Saturday, her mother, Jennifer Hubbell, shared the news on a GoFundMe page she created for her daughter, Madison Riley Hull.

According to the page, Hull died after being attacked by three pit bulls while looking after the dogs.

Hubell remembered her daughter as “beautiful, full of life, and full of love,” and wrote that she died suddenly as a result of a brutal dog attack.

The incident took place at a Tyler home in Texas around 4:15 p.m. local time on Friday, November 21.

Hull had gone to the house to bring the dogs back inside after they had gotten out, and that was when the animals unexpectedly attacked her, according to the Smith County Sheriff’s Office.

A neighbor who heard the noise coming from the yard called 911 for help.

Hull was only half a year away from finishing her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Texas at Tyler.

Her mother said she had truly found her passion in teaching young kids, and that the children she worked with adored her.

The GoFundMe page included several photos of Hull laughing and enjoying time with friends and family.

One picture showed her joking around at a restaurant with her arm around a child while pulling a silly face.

Deputies arrived at the home and found Hull in the backyard. When one of the officers tried to reach her, one of the pit bulls charged at him.

The deputy shot and killed that dog, and the gunfire caused the other two to run off, which allowed him to get Hull out of the yard.

Unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after.

The deputy who fired his weapon had minor injuries and was treated at a nearby hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

As of Wednesday, November 26, the fundraiser started by Hull’s mother had collected over 17,000 dollars.

Hubbell thanked everyone for their support and said the donations would help cover her daughter’s memorial and funeral costs.

On Wednesday, the owner of the dogs gave up his right to a hearing, and the two surviving dogs were handed over to Smith County Animal Control, where officials say they will be humanely euthanized.

The tragedy happened not long after Hull had mentioned to her mother that she had recently noticed the dogs acting differently.
