Police are hunting for a man after a married couple was killed while hiking in Arkansas state with their daughters.
Clinton Brink, 43, and his wife Amanda Brink, 41, were hiking with their daughters, 7 and 9, at Devil’s Den State Park on Saturday afternoon when they were attacked.
The girls were not injured in the attack and are currently staying with relatives, authorities said.
The couple, described as being “loving, devoted parents”, had relocated to Prairie Grove from another state three weeks ago.
Their family is urging anyone with information on the case to share it with police.
According to a press release, authorities were alerted of a suspected double homicide at approximately 2:40 p.m. on Saturday.
The couple were subsequently found dead on one of the trails at the park.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing dark pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a baseball cap, sunglasses, and fingerless gloves. He was also wearing a black backpack and was seen driving a black sedan, with a license plate that was partly obscured by tape.
Police said the vehicle may have been a Mazda, and may have travelled on State Highway 220 or State Highway 170 near Devil’s Den State Park in a rural area.
At the same time, they are warning the public not to share any videos on social media as it may “jeopardize the investigation.”
The section of the park where the attack happened is currently blocked off and secured by police.
Police added that the park is located in a remote area, where vegetation is thick and there is no cell service.
The bodies have been transported to a crime lab, where the official cause of death will be determined.
Their family is asking for privacy as they navigate their deaths.
In a statement released on Sunday, Lewis said they are deeply saddened by the tragic incident at the park and that their hearts are with the victims’ families during this difficult time.
Anyone with details or photos of the suspect is urged to contact ASP Troop L Headquarters at 479-751-6663.
