What Happened To The Great Khali – What’s He Doing Now In 2024

Dalip Singh Rana, known as The Great Khali in WWE, appeared in a 2006 episode of SmackDown and quickly joined the race for the championships. But before his debut as a wrestler and actor, he had other jobs in India.

The Great Khali was actually a security guard before a police officer helped him join the police. The Punjab Police also gave his brother a job. But Dalip Singh Rana also started training in a local gym, where he learned a few things about wrestling. He continued his training and was then selected for more training, this time in the U.S.

Before his SmackDown appearance in 2006, The Great Khali was part of other wrestling promotions for six years. He signed with WWE in 2006 and trained for three months before appearing in his first episode of SmackDown. His first appearance was not for a match, it was to attack The Undertaker. In the following episode, it was revealed by his manager that his name was The Great Khali. A week later, he appeared in his first match and won. Fans were impressed by his size and strength.

Main Event Matches

Khali continued to win matches against Rey Mysterio and The Undertaker. The Great Khali was going to face The Undertaker again at a WWE PPV, but was not medically cleared. The Undertaker then challenged him to a match and the two faced each other after he was medically cleared. The Great Khali lost that match but he was still one of the most dominating superstars in the WWE.

The Great Khali and his manager, Daivari, moved to ECW, when the brand returned in 2006. He was unstoppable in ECW, winning his matches and leaving the brand with a PPV win. He appeared in WWE Raw in January of 2007 and it was announced that he had signed with the brand. He was also given a main event match in the episode. Khali then feuded with Kane and the two superstars faced each other at Wrestlemania 23.

Title Matches, Films and TV Shows

The Great Khali In June of 2007, he was drafted to SmackDown. A month later, he won a Battle Royal for the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He held the title for a few months and then joined the race for the WWE Championship. He did not become the number one contender but did feud with other superstars. The Great Khali switched brands a number of times before appearing in the SmackDown Elimination Chamber PPV for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The following week, he competed for the title but did not win.

In 2017, he returned to Battleground, WWE’s fifth annual professional wrestling pay-per-view event to assist WWE champion Jinder Mahal in a prison match for the championships. More specifically, he prevented his opponent Randy Orton from leaving the structure, which allowed Mahal to retain his title.

A year later, he participated in The Greatest Royal Rumble match, where he lasted for less than a minute; he was ultimately eliminated by Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman. It would be his last match for WWE.

Fast forward to March 2021 and the former wrestler has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. What else has he been up to? In February 2022, he announced that he had joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, one of the two major political parties in India besides the Indian National Congress.

  3. Some really good choices khali vs braun or jinder, I would love to see both matches actually, but if it was my decision here’s how I would bring him back I would have Jinder Mahal run over the competition constantly bragging how good is a nobody can beat him, also talking about India and his people in India, just like his doing now, after a while, you have Jinder Mahal come to the ring and once again start bragging, suddenly The Great Khali music hits and here comes this monster of a man coming to the ring kahli. Jinder Mahal thinks he’s there to congratulate him and for representing India. Suddenly Great Khali put some in our claw and does not let go until Jinder is rendered unconscious. Khali then grabs the microphone and notifies everybody where Jinder Mahal is actually from. Because the people who have done their homework no he is not from India he has never lived in India. This starts a feud between Mahal and Khali for the WWE championship.
