Caleb Logan’s Sudden Death – How Caleb Logan Died

Caleb Logan’s death on October 1, 2015, took everyone by surprise. He was only thirteen, and had no known medical conditions. His death was so unexpected that several media outlets at the time suspected fraud, if not worse, in an attempt to garner more attention for the young celebrities. Journalists, who seemed desperate to turn the tragedy into a story, criticized the family for being vague about what had happened, at first. The family, most likely trying to keep the death private, rather than mysterious, eventually acquiesced to public pressure, and disclosed Caleb Logan Bratayley’s cause of death had been from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or HCM, is a thickening of the muscle separating the chambers of the heart. HCM almost never presents any symptoms until the condition causes sudden cardiac failure. Caleb Logan had frequent doctors appointments, due to the history of heart problems in his family, but they had not been of the scope to test for HCM. The family, since his death, have started testing Annie and Hayley for HCM.

The family, who were aware how many people online appreciated their son’s presence on YouTube, and anxious to appease sensationalist journalists, broadcast Caleb’s memorial service live through YouTube and the app Periscope. More than 40,000 people viewed the broadcasts.

What Are The Bratayley Family Doing Now in 2018?

Caleb’s family took a brief hiatus from making videos after Caleb’s death and memorial service. They uploaded the first new episode of Bratayley on October 13, 2015, four days after his service. The Bratayley channel today has almost a million more subscribers than it had prior to his death, and they continue to release videos on a near-daily basis, just like they did before his death. His sister Annie continues to release videos on her own channel about her progress in gymnastics. Hayley, the girl who started it all, continues to be one of YouTube’s favorite young vloggers.
