Tim Stansbury states that after doing a lot of research, he and Erin Whalen came up with a perfect product and found a really fun way to market it. Erin Whalen states that their product is not just great for cyclists, because there are so many other, everyday uses for it.

According to Tim Stansbury, the Sharks will love Grease Monkey Wipes, because everyone they ever talked to really liked the products. All that Tim Stansbury and Erin Whalen need to do is get the product in front of the Sharks, and secure an investment from them.

Tim Stansbury starts the presentation by introducing himself and Erin Whalen to the Sharks, and tells the Sharks that their company is called Grease Monkey Wipes. Tim Stansbury continues by saying that they are seeking an investment of forty thousand dollars, in exchange for a forty percent stake in Grease Monkey Wipes.

Erin Whalen takes over the presentation by asking the Sharks if they were ever covered in in grease or grime, with no easy way to clean up. Erin Whalen states that it did happen to her often, especially when she went on one hundred mile bike rides. She states that she had a flat tire ones, and after changing it, her hands were covered in grease.

Erin Whalen continues by saying that she tried to get the grease off on the grass and on her shorts, but nothing seemed to work. At that moment, she and Tim Stansbury decided that it would be great if there was a portable cleaning product that would easily remove grease, grime and dirt. That is when they decided to start Grease Monkey Wipes.

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that the ingredients are citrus oils. He says that when juice companies squeeze their oranges for orange juice, the leftover oils are used as a cleaning agent.

Robert Herjavec asks Tim Stansbury how he figured that out”

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that they have done a lot of product testing prior to launching Grease Monkey Wipes. They stumbled upon one that they knew was natural, would be safe for the environment and wasn’t harsh chemicals.

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that the portable nature of Grease Monkey Wipes is really their unique selling point. They have yet to see any other wipe manufacturer that also sells such powerful wet wipes in individual packages.

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that the individually packed wipes are not patented, or anything else for that matter. Tim Stansbury continues by saying that they have decided not to patent anything for two reasons. The first reason is that Grease Monkey Wipes is a brand new company, so they don’t really have the resources to patent it. Secondly, once you patent a product, you have to put your formulas out there, which means that not having a patent protects them for a while, before someone copies their ideas.

Kevin Harrington states that wet wipes exists in a lot of different categories already.

Robert Herjavec states that those other wet wipes are very industrial and chemical heavy.

Tim Stansbury states that it is their biggest differentiator compared to other wet wipe manufacturers. Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that they do believe it is sustainable, because there are two hundred and eighty five million registered cars in the United States of America, thirteen million boats and over six million motorcycles. That exponentially grows the market for Grease Monkey Wipes.

Erin Whale states that they have been having luck in smaller markets, such as cycling. She claims that they have a seventy five percent success rate at stores that they pitch Grease Monkey Wipes to.

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that about forty percent of the shops that they sold Grease Monkey Wipes to, ordered more wipes after a certain period of time. However, a lot of the stores are new customers, which means that they have just received their order, and need to wait before they run out of stock.

Daymond John states that Tim Stansbury and Erin Whalen presented their product very nicely, and that he loves the name and branding. Daymond John continues by stating that it is just not a business for him, and for that reason, he is out.

Barbara Corcoran states that she feels as if she is getting unintentionally fooled by Tim Stansbury’s appearance.

Tim Stansbury answers the question by saying that he has a MBA in marketing, and before he started working on Grease Monkey Wipes fulltime, he has been in product management and product marketing.

Kevin O’Leary states that his problem with Grease Monkey Wipes is that there is a lack of proprietary content, and the only thing that is unique is the logo. Kevin O’Leary continues by stating that everything else can be copied and knocked off. He loves the whole story behind the company, but he doesn’t want to invest in it. Kevin O’Leary states that he is out as well.

Kevin Harrington states that he always looks for products that are unique and has a unique selling proposition. Kevin Harrington continues by stating that he just doesn’t see Grease Monkey Wipes being unique enough, which is why he is out as well.

Barbara Corcoran states that Tim Stansbury and Erin Whalen have done a great job with their presentation, their logo and their products. However, Barbara Corcoran states that she doesn’t every get her hands dirty, which is why she simply can’t get warmed up to the product itself. For that reason, Barbara Corcoran is out as well.

Robert Herjavec states that Tim Stansbury and Erin Whalen have done such a great job, and they have answered all the questions, and Tim Stansbury is the real deal.

Erin Whalen interrupts Robert Herjavec and states that Tim Stansbury and she works very well together. Erin Whalen states that she has her bachelors in business and Tim Stansbury has his MBA, and they are both very passionate to make Grease Monkey Wipes work.

Erin Whalen states that they want to create a global wipe empire and want their monkey logo to be seen in every store.

At the end interview, Erin Whalen state that they are going to make Grease Monkey Wipes a national and international brand. She claims that Grease Monkey Wipes are going to be on store shelves all over the world.

There is no mention of Grease Monkey Wipes being the best or worst on Shark Tank; however, the Sharks did love the enthusiasm and passion that Erin Whalen was showing.

On season 7, episode 8, Robert and the sharks (Barbara wasn’t there) were pitched another (natural) hand-cleaning product called “Grip Clean.” Robert commented about his and Barbara’s investment in that company and said to the Grip Clean entrepreneur that they thought people would care whether or not their product was natural over their competitor’s chemical-based cleaning solutions and concluded that people “didn’t care enough” (his words). So even though the company may have made sales beyond pre-Shark Tank, I don’t think it exploded in sales the way the sharks (specifically Robert and Barbara) thought it would.
