A self-taught dancer, Lamar Johnson is perhaps best known for playing West in the Family Channel’s series, The Next Step. Noted for his amazing tumbling and backflipping ability, he has also appeared in the shows Rookie Blue, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Covert Affairs, among others.
Born on July 18, 1994, in Toronto, Canada, Lamar Johnson has been dancing for most of his life. At the age of nine, he made his movie debut in the movie, Honey starring Jessica Alba. Since then, he has also appeared in the films, Full Out, Home Again, and Parkdale.
How Lamar Johnson Became Famous
Several years after his acting debut, he was cast in the Family Channel series, The Next Step. His most prominent television credit to date, he played the part of West, one of the many dance students at the fictional The Next Step Dance Studio. Some of his co-stars included Shelby Bain, Giuseppe Bausilio, Devon Brown, Alexandra Chaves, and Jordan Clark, among others.

Since then, the dancer has also appeared in the shows Degrassi: The Next Generation, Rookie Blues, Covert Affairs, Pop It!, and Saving Hope, and a few others.

Lamar Johnson in Film
In 2012, he appeared in a feature film for the first time in Home Again. From there, Johnson portrayed the role of Twist in the biographical film, Full Out (2015).
More recently, he was also involved in the movies Filth City and Kings, both of which came out in 2017. According to his IMDb page, he will be involved with the upcoming films, The Hate U Give and X-Men: Dark Phoenix.
