Last month, a family consisting of four people was found deceased in their home, shocking the neighborhood where properties are valued in the millions.
The official autopsy results have not yet been released by authorities, but new details have emerged about what happened to Thomas Russell Ocheltree, Paula Truing, and their two daughters, nine-year-old Mackenzie and twelve-year-old Alexandra.
According to officials, the father and his two daughters were discovered dead with gunshot wounds on October 8.
Authorities also found their mother, Paula Truing, hanging by a rope in the garage.
A couple of days beforehand, Truing had met with relatives of her husband at the house.
The family member grew concerned after Thomas Russell, also known as “T.R.,” did not answer his phone. Truing refused to let them inside, stating her husband had gone golfing and had lost his phone.
Worried something wasn’t right, the relative came back to the home on October 8. After breaking in, they found the four family members inside, all deceased.
Neighbors and friends described them as a private family but friendly, often hosting garden dinners that could be heard over the fence.
They also had a pet dog, who was later confirmed by a family friend to be safe.
The couple were entrepreneurs, having owned various businesses over the years, including a liquor store, a luxury car repair shop, and a chain of coffee shops.
However, most people didn’t know that they had been struggling financially due to multiple business failures.
Friends of Truing described her as an avid baker and cook, often simmering pho for hours for her daughter. According to a member of T.R.’s family, he was unaware of the extent of the financial difficulties the family was facing.
In the weeks following the discovery of the family’s bodies, there have been no official updates from the police.
On October 22, Saint Finn Barr’s Church, located outside the family’s home, held a prayer service attended by 11 parishioners, none of whom knew the family personally.
The day before the service, Wysocki, who had taught Truing and her family golf about a year earlier, was practicing at the Cypress Driving Range in Colma.
During a break, he learned about the tragic incident and was stunned by how the family he had come to know over the past year could suddenly vanish in such a heartbreaking way.
