What Are Acne Patches and Do They Really Work?

When it comes to acne, you probably are like most people in that you cannot stand seeing that pimple show up in the mirror. One of the worst parts about acne is that instead of it being a “teenage” growing pain, acne can happen to you or me at any point in time. Whether you are 13, 30 or 40 you can actually get acne breakouts, which will leave you feeling as embarrassed and aggravated as it did the first time. There have been a ton of different acne treatments through the years that were designed to get rid of your pimples quickly and safely without being painful, both prescription products and over-the-counter products.

One of the new fads these days is called an acne patch, which is supposed to be useful and effective at treating those lone pimples you feel on your face that are not clustered in a bunch.. If you have not heard of acne patches then you likely will soon enough, besides in this article, as it is becoming one of the latest ways that people say you can get rid of your pimple without the hassle of buying really expensive products and creams. The question when it comes to this new trend of using acne patches is simple.

Do Acne Patches Really Work?

Acne patches work basically like a Band Aid, which means you place this onto your pimple as soon as you feel it coming on and it is visible. Covering the pimple then allows for the patch to heat the pimple, and then it will come to the surface quicker. So basically the acne patches work to increase the rate that the pimple progresses, and it also traps the fluid too which increases the chance it comes all to the surface. Acne patches have not been in the American market that long, but the concept has been around for a while.

There are both medicated and non-medicated acne patches, with both capable of trapping the pus within the pimple. There is one difference though because the medicated ones contain the over-the-counter topical cream ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These ingredients basically medicates the pimple so that it will better destroy itself. It is important to note that the results will vary if you are using the patches in order to spot treat. You definitely want to wear the patches at night, because it works better when it is being worn overnight compared to day time. This is due to there being more time for the chemicals to get into your skin. You also want to make sure you wear it at night due to the fact during the day you are sweating and wearing makeup which hinders healing.

It is also good to remember that acne often times appears in clusters, but the patch itself works best on one pimple. This means that you do not want to cover your entire face with these patches but instead, just use the patches on a pimple or two. If you have a face full of acne then you should go to the dermatologist because they can give you a more effective treatment such as a topical cream. Topical creams or pills work best if you are looking for an all-over-the-face approach. Therefore, while the acne patches do work they are not meant for your entire face and it is very time consuming if you are trying to cover your entire face with these patches.

Overall the patches are more of a fad than anything, although using them definitely could help if you have a pimple or two. Do not look for it to be a quick fix or miracle for your zit though. If you are looking for a long-term approach and treatment for complete facial acne removal, then this is not the answer. You could end up getting pimples in other areas because of the patches and how it ends up suffocating the pores on the skin around the patch. The pores being suffocated could either cause more pimples or irritation, which could potentially hinder the healing of the pimples.

  1. I’ve tried most of the acne patches in the market right now and I’m a huge fan. I absolutely love cover-dot acne care because they’re the thinnest and least noticeable on my skin. Also the only ones made in the U.S. I also have them in hand for blisters or other small wounds.

  2. There’s a simple and effective way to deal with cystic and all other forms of acne. Acne sufferers hate prescription because they come with side-effects and often take time to deliver results. Just use “Niapads”, available on Amazon USA or Amazon Canada. Shipped worldwide via Amazon USA. All you do is take a pad, wet with water and place it on acne. When dry, peel and rinse. Sit back and watch acne fade away.Helps diminish acne scars too. It really is that simple.
