What Happened To Crash Bandicoot – 2018 Remake Coming Soon?

Crash Bandicoot series has been a commercial success but the last game was released in 2010. The PlayStation exclusive had a good run during the PS1 and PS2. The series later made its debut on the Xbox 360, PSP and other platforms.

For those who don’t know about the game, it features a character named Crash. He lives on the Wumpa Islands, but spends most of his time fighting Neo Cortex, the bad guy of the series. He actually created Crash but now wants to get rid of him. He also has world domination plans, which Crash must put an end to in every game.

Debut

Crash The first crash game made its debut in 1996 and Naughty Dog quickly went back to work for Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back. The second game was released in 1997 like the first, it was a commercial success. The studio then started working on the third game, Crash Bandicoot: Warped. The game featured new setting and a ton of fun levels. Naughty Dog also released Crash Team Racing, which would be their last release for the series.

The series was continued by other studios until 2010, when rumors appeared that Radical Entertainment was working on a fourth title but decided to cancel it after large layoffs in the studio. High Impact Games was also working on a remake of the racing version of the game but it was cancelled by Activision.

Future of The Series

The game has seen lots of rumors since 2010 but nothing has been confirmed. On a Kotaku interview withCrash Bandicoot Game Activision CEO Eric Hishberg, said he had nothing official to announce but did reveal that he loves the games. He finished by saying that he would love to bring him back if they could. Andy Gavin, who worked on the first games, said he would love to see an HD version of the first four titles or even a reboot.

In 2013, Andy Gavin also gave ideas on how to bring back the series. He said that Crash needed a total reboot and that it would make sense to use a more modern, free roaming style.

Rumors continued in November 2013, when it was said that Sony had bought the rights to the franchise from Activision. But a representative of the game developer denied the rumors by saying that Activision still owns Crash Bandicoot and that they would continue to look for ways to bring it back.

Last year, Naughty Dog’s Josh Scherr said in an interview with Game Informer that the studio did have any intentions of bringing it back. Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells later said they would love to return to the series but didn’t see it as viable.

The last release was Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2, available for iPod Touch and iPhone. A new game for the series has not been confirmed but fans are waiting. There will be various gaming events this year, so we’re hoping that one of them gives us details about a new title or reboot.
