Jack Osbourne captured American attention when his family starred on MTV’s The Osbournes in the early 2000s. Since then, he’s had a few of his own shoes, and become a representative for multiple sclerosis, which he was diagnosed with in 2012. Recently, Osbourne and his wife Lisa Stelly had their second child. What else is the celebrity up to?
Jack Osbourne before The Osbournes
Jack Osbourne has never had a life outside celebrity. When Ozzy Osbourne and his wife and manage Sharon Osbourne had Jack in 1985, Ozzy was already internationally famous for his work in the heavy metal group Black Sabbath. The youngest child, Jack has two sisters (Aimee and Kelly) and two half-siblings, Louis John and Jessica, from Ozzy’s marriage before Sharon.
After growing up in Buckinghamshire (north of London) Jack and his family moved to Los Angeles, but returned the next year to Buckinghamshire. The family then moved back to Los Angeles, specifically Beverly Hills, when Jack was 11, in 1996. The frequently moving had an effect on Jack’s performance in school, exacerbated by ADHD and dyslexia. Jack moved back to England to try and receive the focused education his family felt he needed, before moving back to Los Angeles to be with his family.
Jack Osbourne was introduced to drug use at an early age, and admitted to getting drunk for the first time when he was 13. Over the next year, he began drinking regularly and started smoking cannabis. When he was 14, he started an internship at Virgin Records, where his mother Sharon was managing the Smashing Pumpkins. When she left Virgin, Jack did too, but continued to work closely with his mom, helping advise the line-up for Ozzfest, Ozzy Osbourne’s touring festival.
The Osbournes
Jack Osbourne and the rest of his family became household names with MTV’s reality show The Osbournes. By the end of the first season, which premiered on March 5, 2002, MTV was claiming the show was their most-viewed series of all time.
The show featured Ozzy and Sharon and their children Jack and Kelly, but the middle child, Aimee, was notably absent. She was publicly critical of her family for indulging in publicity stunts and her face was blurred from family photos that were shown during filming. Outside following the rest of the family’s daily life, The Osbournes also was with the family while Sharon Osbourne struggled with cancer, and Ozzy recovered from a severe ATV accident. The show was immediately suspected of staging some of its scenes, but despite this, won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program for its first season.
On the show, Jack Osbourne was presented as a cariacture of a partying teenage boy. He frequently fought with his sister, and was his drug use was alluded to repeatedly. The allusions were made concrete when, in April 2003, he was admitted to a child psychiatric ward for his addiction to OxyContin, an opioid. His drug use would continue, leading to a suicide attempt and eventually, rehab. Despite controversy related to his drug use and social lifestyle, Jack Osbourne made cameo appearances in numerous TV shows, including Dawson’s Creek, That ’70s Show, and The X Factor. He even had a BBC reality show, Union Jack, which focused on his life in Los Angeles after rehab.
Jack Osbourne’s Sobriety and Fitness
After the end of The Osbournes in 2005, Jack Osbourne began to use his celebrity to cultivate an interest in physical fitness. While the final season of his family’s reality show was broadcasting, Jack appeared on Extreme Celebrity Detox, where he learned t’ai chi and how to rock-climb. He also began cohosting the British program Celebrity Wrestling: Bring It On!
Jack’s participation in Extreme Celebrity Detox may have inspired him to create his own show with Detox’s producers. Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie. The show was broadcast on the Travel Channel in the US, and followed Jack’s training for extreme sports. After the first season, Jack Osbourne did a photo spread for Cosmopolitan and also began hosting Holly & Stephen’s Saturday Showdown, an English children’s show. He also began participating in Sport Relief, a UK charity effort.
Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie aired for six seasons, finally ending in 2008. During that time he also had a brief stint on the reality TV show Armed & Famous, and also filmed an episode for the BBC’s Saving Planet Earth. He also took part in a charity rally where he drove from London to Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia.
Osbourne also dipped his toes into directing, first with the music video for Ozzy Osbourne’s “Life Won’t Wait,” from the album Scream. Then in 2011, Jack Osbourne directed God Bless Ozzy Osbourne. Originally titled Wreckage of My Past: The Ozzy Osbourne Story, the film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2011.
On April 24, 2012, Jack Osbourne and Lisa Stelly had a daughter together, Pearl Clementine, and got married later that year, on October 7. Three weeks after Pearl’s birth, Osbourne learned that he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, and disclosed that he had been dealing with symptoms for years. Since the announcement, he has become a celebrity spokesperson for the illness.

Due to the illness, Osbourne had to step back from some his more extreme physical activities, but he certainly hasn’t returned to his old ways. He briefly hosted a paranormal investigation show on the Syfy cable network, and was also a contestant on the 2013 season of Dancing with the Stars. He came in third, and said that he had been able to compete through the season without many difficulties.
In August 2013, Jack and his wife Lisa announced they were expecting a second child, but a month later revealed Lisa had miscarried during her second trimester. The couple used the miscarriage to raise awareness of some of the difficulties expectant mothers go through. Then, on June 13, 2015, the couple gave birth to their second daughter, whom they named Andy Rose Osbourne. Some suspect the traditionally masculine name was given because they had expected a son as a second child.
What is Jack Osbourne Doing Now in 2018?
It’s been quite a few years since Ozzy and Jack Osbourne have worked together, but the father and son are working on a new show for The History Channel. While not much is known about the show, including the name, we have some hints. Over the past several months, Jack and Ozzy have travelled to Roswell, New Mexico (alleged crash site of the aliens at Area 51,) Cuba (long restricted to US tourists,) and the Alamo Mission in San Antonio (famous battleground in the Texan Revolution.)
Most recently the duo was seen filming at Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Apparently they had a blast touring the living museum, especially getting to try on period clothing. They even tried their hand at using muskets at the museum’s new firing range, and explored Historic Jamestowne. While no air date for the show has been confirmed, it’s suspected that it will broadcast this fall.
