How Did Arnold Schwarzenegger make their money & wealth
Arnold Schwarzenegger was born in a small Austrian village called Thal. Money was a real problem in his family. Schwarzenegger recalled that one of the highlights of his childhood was when the family bought a refrigerator. Both of Arnold’s parents were very strict, especially his father, who was a soldier who after WW2 became the local police chief.
When Arnold was 14, he saw a magazine with bodybuilder Reg Park on the cover, and the title: “How Mr. Universe became Hercules.” He opened the magazine and started reading about bodybuilding. The following week, Arnold began training. In those days, bodybuilding wasn’t exactly a popular sport in Austria. The kids, perhaps jealous of his passion, would constantly mock him and tell him he’ll never make it. But Arnold’s will power and determination was too strong to break.
In 1965 Arnold was serving in the Austrian Army, as was the requirement for all 18-year in those days. One day Arnold decided to sneak out of his base and enter a bodybuilding competition “Junior Mr. Europe.” When he returned, his supervisors sent him to solitary confinement. But when they found out he had won the competition, they gave him bodybuilding equipment and 3 hours a day to train for more competitions. He ended up winning even more competitions, and at age of 20 he became the youngest Mr. Universe ever. He would win the title 3 more times.
In 1968, at the age of 21, Arnold moved to the United States. There, he became a sports icon, winning Mr. Olympia seven times. He then decided to try his luck in Hollywood. He made his big screen debut in 1970 as “Arnold Strong” in the low budget Hercules in New York. In 1976 he appeared in Stay Hungry, for which he received a Golden Globe Award for Best Newcomer. Because of his perfect physique, Arnold was a natural for action films. He was the star of many popular 80s action movies, the most memorable ones being “Conan the Barbarian” and “The Terminator.” He also took a shot at comedy, starring in Twins, Kindergarten Cop and Junior.
In the 90s, Arnold became increasingly active in the Republican Party. In October 2003 he was elected Governor of California in a recall election. He got the nickname “The Governator,” and held the office for two terms until 2011. Because of the money he earned from his acting career, Arnold did not accept his governor’s salary of $175,000 per year.
After 2011 he made an acting comeback, appearing with other iconic action stars in Silvester Stallone’s Expendables franchise. He then returned to his Hollywood roots by appearing in Terminator Genisys, and is even working on another Conan movie titled “The Legend of Conan.”
