Are you embarrassed to go outside? No one likes any kind of blemishes on their skin. After all, think about how much money companies make selling acne treatment.
But you don’t need to spend a lot with expensive treatments, or see your doctor, to remove the horror of going outside with skin tags.
The Safest Way: Dental Floss
This is a somewhat painless way to remove skin tags, it just takes a small amount of time. But if you are scared to just remove it straight away, then this might just be your best method.
Simply take a small piece of dental floss, and tie it (tightly) around where the skin tag joins your skin.
You might feel a small ache, but give it time (nearly a week) and the whole thing will fall off naturally.
The Natural Way: Apple Cider Vinegar
This magical ingredient is a great help to getting rid of tags. All you need for this is a small bottle, and then some cotton wool. Simply soak the cotton ball in the vinegar and cover the skin tag. Do this twice a day for a few days, and eventually the skin tag will reduce in size until you can simply peel it away from your skin.
If you can’t get any Apple Cider Vinegar to remove your skin tags, natural Tea Tree oil is another alternative, using exactly the same method. And it smells nicer as well!
If you feel you can not wait a week, then read on!
The Fast and Effective Way: Nail Clippers (Or Other Blade)
This is the nuclear option, and not for the faint of heart. Although it is recommended to go to a professional to remove a skin tag with any kind of sharp tool, this will work very quickly (especially useful if you have an important date or meeting to go to). Do this method very, very, carefully though. You do not want to replace a removable skin tag with an irremovable scar. Do keep some tissue paper around, to mop up the bleeding (just like shaving)
Numbing the Area
If you are determined to cut off the skin tag yourself, but want to try and avoid as much pain as possible, try soaking a bud of cotton wool in some Clove Oil. This works in a pinch as a numbing liquid, reducing the pain in applying a blade to your skin. Just place the cotton on your skin tag for about three minutes before using your cutting tool to remove it.
Cleaning
Make sure whatever you use to cut off the skin tag has been properly sterilized. You can do this by using some simple hydrogen peroxide. Make sure to clean your tool in both before and after you start cutting.
Healing
Once you have dabbed the area with tissue quickly dab either some Vaseline or a styptic pencil (the same kind used to stop shaving cuts) on the area. This will help to cut down the bleeding straight away. Apply a bandage, and you’ll be able to go on with your day without the ugly growth.
Caution:
Do be aware, though, that these methods are all only to be used as a last resort. If you can go and see a medical professional about your skin tag, please do. Having too many of them, or them very quickly return, may be a sign of something that you really do need to get checked out. Plus, the procedures are now somewhat inexpensive and will be a lot less painless than what you can do yourself at home.
