An American figure skater, Gracie Gold had won a bronze medal in the team event at the 2014 Winter Olympics. A two-time US national champion, she has also medalled at the World Junior Championships and Grand Prix Final series.
Hailing from Illinois, she began skating at the age of eight. Several years later, she competed on the international stage at the Junior Grand Prix in 2012. From there, she eventually represented the country at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
How Gracie Gold Became Famous
As a junior, Gold first started to garner attention after winning the silver medal at her international debut- the 2012 World Junior Championships. A year later, she medaled for the first time at the US National Championships.
Not long afterward, she won her first US National title at the 2014 US Championships in Boston. Following that, she was named to represent the United States at the 2014 Winter Olympics. In the end, she finished second in the team event, which earned her a bronze medal. As for the individual ladies’ singles, she had narrowly missed a medal, having finished fourth.
Gracie Gold’s Later Activities
In the years after the Olympic Games, she earned two medals at the US National Championships- a silver in 2015, and a gold in 2016.
Despite all this, however, it was later announced that she would be taking a break from competition for health reasons. According to reports, she is currently receiving ongoing treatment for an eating disorder, depression, and anxiety.
In terms of media appearances, she has been featured in a number TV programmings over the past few years such as The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Access Hollywood, Weekend Today, and Today.
At one point in 2016, Gold even made a guest appearance in the Japanese mini-series, Seisei suru hodo, Aishiteru.
