How did Randy Orton make his money and wealth?

Before wrestling

As you might imagine, Randy made all of his money through wrestling, but we have to start somewhere before getting into that. Orton was born in 1980 in Knoxville, to a family of wrestlers. Although his father, wrestler Bob Orton Jr., advised him against pursuing a wrestling career, Randy still ventured into amateur wrestling.

Early wrestling career

Randy started training at the St. Louis Wrestling Club, where his father taught him everything he knew about wrestling. Around a year later, he was signed by the WWF (which would go on to become today’s WWE) and sent to their developmental training facility.

WWE Debut

His first televised match for the WWF was against Hardcore Holly, in April of 2002. He quickly became a fan favorite, and due to some injuries became a ‘heel’. After he recovered, he joined the Evolution, a stable consisted of Ric Flair, HHH, and Batista. The Evolution was one of the most popular and successful wrestling stables in the modern history of WWE. This was also the time that he became known as ‘the legend killer’ because he was feuding with stars such as Shawn Michaels, Rob Van Dam, Mick Foley and Shelton Benjamin.

WWE Career

From there, he would go on to become one of the world’s most famous and best known professional wrestlers. He went through various storylines, including a legendary feud with The Undertaker, aligning himself with Triple H & The Authority, becoming the world’s youngest heavyweight champion, and many, many others. Randy is the current United States Champion of WWE’s Smackdown brand. He played a significant role in WWE for almost his whole career and was paid appropriately, which is why he is now worth $16 million. Orton is a nine-time WWE Champion, four-time Heavy Weight Champion, and one time US Champion. He’s won two Royal Rumbles and was the main headline for dozens of WWE’s PPVs.

Other ventures

While wrestling is by far his biggest source of income, Orton made some money from other gigs too. These include acting (That’s What I Am, The Condemned 2, Countdown) and TV show appearances such as Deal or No Deal.
