Initially known as UberEATS, the company has since teamed up with countless restaurants worldwide, in order to offer a range of cuisines to their customers. Using their official website or app, users are easily able to read the menu, order, and pay using their device (while gratuity is not mandatory, it is highly appreciated by those who deliver your food!). The way it works, is that the app displays the available restaurants after detecting the user’s location with GPS.
In terms of payment, it is charged to the credit or debit card on file. Once that step is complete, an Uber Eats messenger will be assigned to your order. Depending on the distance between the restaurant and your location, the food will either by delivered on foot, by bike or by car. Currently, the delivery fee is set at $4.99.
For those who are interested in making some money on the side, you can sign up to be a delivery partner for Uber Eats. Similar to Uber, couriers earn a set amount for each delivery trip based on the distance and number of trips between the restaurant and the drop-off location. In order to participate and sign up to be a driver, you have to be 19 years of age or older in most cities.
