With fall around the corner, many use this time as an excuse to change looks and start 2018 off right with a brand new style. While clothes are an obvious choice for an upgrade, you must also consider your top accessory, you hair. For your consideration, we have curated the top five cuts of 2018.
5. Top Hairstyles: Lobs

Not to be confused with the Bob cut, lobs are known for being able to frame your face and accentuate your best features. Usually done by shortening the back and keeping the sides long and around the face, lobs are best done with wavy or straight hair styles, and can work especially well when glasses are needed. An easy look to pull off, one merely has to quickly arrange hair with a brush or comb on a natural part and optionally stiffen with a bit of hair spray. This is absolutely ideal for those that want a professional look without having to spend a large amount of time working on the style.
4. Top Hairstyles: Twisted Half-Do

Also known as a half-back do, this style is at home both on the red carpet and a bohemian music event. While it looks exceptionally fancy, it can be done in an easy four step process with most medium to long hair types. First, you need to separate your hair into front, both sides and a nape section. Then carefully curl each section using a one inch curling iron, and softly brush out once your hair has properly cooled. Lastly, using your fingers to do so, take two to three inch sections of hair above the ears on both sides and twist them back. Then loop them over and around each other before securing them in place in any method you wish. If desired, layering under the twist can enhance the volume of your hair.
3. Top Hairstyles: 90’s Updo

Pokemon, Surge Soda, and Updo’s. The 90’s are indeed back, and that can be fantastic for some hairstyles. While one of the oldest hairstyles on the list (actually dating back to Athens), the chignon gained a great deal of popularity in the mid 90’s with both its elegance and approachability. This style works best with medium to long hair, where the bangs can either be backswept or left loose, and a low sweeping knot towards the nape of the neck. Perhaps best used in straight or flattened hair, and can be paired equally well with a pair of jeans and a t-shirt or a dress. For a fun variation, side-oriented chignons have also been in style the past few years and can be a very unique way to wear your hair.
2. Top Hairstyles: The Curls Out

This year if you have curls, wear them. While in previous years, many have been encouraged to straighten, flatten, or otherwise kill the curl, this year it’s a fine time to be as naturally curly as you were born to be. With a lot of fashion and beauty trends embracing natural beauty, it’s best advised to keep heat treatment as minimal as possible. Instead, using volumizing and sulfate free shampoos is a great idea, and using cuts that accentuate your face without limiting length are great alternatives for a fresh, fun look.
1. Top Hairstyles: The Textured Bob

For the past few years, short hairstyles have been in vogue. 2018 is no different, with many saying that the textured bob is the number one pick for styles to rock this year. For wavy hair in particular, this is an ideal choice to allow for both fun and bounce, while requiring the absolute minimum to pull off in terms of styling. To get the most chic look, you can ask your hair stylist to give an angled bob cut, preferably with longer front layers to properly complete the look. For a more curvy appearance you can put a few large, loose braids into your hair before you go to bed, and undoing them the following morning. Or, if you’re crunched for time you can simply do a loose curl around a curling iron for a few seconds to get the proper volume and shape.
