Always nice to get something entirely new, and a little wifi camera certainly qualifies. The branding might be a bit all over the place with this one, INSMA are calling it a mini spy camera, but I see it more as a low cost car camera. There are a number of features in here that make it suitable for that, not least of which is the internal battery. Insma have made a compact little machine. There is a bit of heft to it, but I like that, and it is far from uncomfortable. More makes it feel pricier than it actually is. The shooting resolution is a full 1920 x 1080, still the most common output resolution, so no real reason to go higher than that. The device is far from self contained as well. With the on board WiFi you can monitor and change settings remotely, so long as both it and you are connected to the internet. There are enough security settings here to satisfy as well, so there is no need to worry about an open cam broadcasting to the internet.
But first let’s see what we can find out about Insma. Best to know more about the business model of these lesser known firms before buying from them.

Insma is Chinese based storefront that sells their items on both their own site, and Amazon.com. I have looked into this, and while it is true that the manually source a lot of their times, they make use of the classic drop shipping model as well, but that is by no means a bad thing. You still gt the low price, and it allows INSMA to offer a wider range of products under the one banner. The thing to remember about these kinds of firms is that they are under the Amazon brand. Being and FBA means that you get access to the low prices of a dropshipping site alongside the wonderful customer support options of Amazon. Makes it the best of both worlds, for the most part. There is always the chance that you will get ripped off and screwed by amazon during the same transaction, but that is rare, and more than made up for by the low prices.Customer support might suffer a little, but I am more concerned with the overall quality of the item, and the price.
INSMA WiFi Camera Design and Build Quality
When you get this thing out of the box the first thing you will notice is how small it is. I can see why they initially started marketing it as a spy camera, it is no bigger than a large bar of chocolate, fits in the hand in the same way too, comfortable, but I do not recommend eating it. The look is simple, with little in the way if impressive design work. I suppose making the thing so small compensates for that. The Lens takes up a substantial amount of the front, and the buttons are on the side. You can sync it to nearby WiFi, but only if it is either open or you have access to the WPS settings, like a wireless repeater.
Now, the feature set. It connects to WiFi, allows you to remotely watch the recording while it is connected, there is a built in motion sensor, the card slot supports 64GB and it comes with a nice gimbaled mount so you can set it up to view pretty much anywhere at pretty much any angle. The video quality is lovely, sitting at the standard 1080p, making it crystal clear what is going on in the image. The video is recorded at 30fps, and I haven’t been able to find any option to turn that down, to increase the number of hours the SD card can load before clingy. If you need the maximum time get the 64GB SD, gives you near 10 days of video.
There really isn’t very much to say here. The Camera works, and does so well. The box it comes in comes with all the necessary cables, and the gimbaled mount as well. The charger is micro USB, so finding an outlet should not be hard. The battery life is well over a day, longer with the wake up options, and charging only take s a few hours in any case. Overall an excellent start to the review. It does what we need it to and looks good doing it.
INSMA WiFi Camera Pricing and Warranty
Now to the price. one would expect to find a camera this small and well designed to be in the $100+ price point, and you would be broadly correct, you can get the INSMA WiFi mini cam for $75, give or take a few. Cheapest price I saw was $70 flat, with the upper bound being closer to $78. Be sure to look for the best price if you do decide on this one.
The warranty is actually not bad. I have reviewed a huge number of different products in the last few years, and warranties vary widely. Here you are covered by Amazon, so if you have issues with the product, and are able to tell them how it happened during normal use for the object, you should be fine. I have dealt with Amazon’s customer support for FBA orders and found it to be near on par with their in house stuff. They make a great arbiter as well.
So, the price is wonderful, well worth it, and the warranty is guaranteed by amazon as much as the order is. Overall a great combo.
INSMA WiFi Camera Conclusion
If you are in the market for a mini camera then this is a great low cost entry level option. There are a number of wonderful bonus features to this one, not least of which is that wireless connectivity. Being able to remotely access what is being seen in real time is great, and if you can somehow get that going in the car you would be sorted, perhaps one of those little mobile to wifi broadcasters could do it. The video quality over the wifi is far from ideal, but it gets the job done. The look of the build is pretty nice too.
The price is a little high, but considering that they eschewed looks in favor of function and the price makes a bit more sense. They are keeping it as low as they can, while still offering a complete experience that doesn’t ruin the firm. The warranty is fulfilled by Amazon, so there is no worries there, their consumer protection policies are second to none.
