10. Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh is one of the highest-paid actors in India. He has been featured in Forbes’ Celebrity 100 list since 2012 and has also won numerous awards including four Filmfare Awards, six Star Screen awards, and two Times of India Film Awards.
Growing up, he had always wanted to become an actor. After graduating college in Mumbai, he went to Indiana University, where he studied theatre and acting. He later returned to India and worked as an assistant director. His big break eventually came in 2010 when he was cast in the romantic comedy, Band Baaja Baaraat.
He later starred in the films Lootera, The Last Leaf, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, and Gunday, all of which received critical acclaim. He also appeared in Gully Boy, Ghoomketu, Sooryavanshi, 83, and hosted the television game show, The Big Picture, from 2021 to 2022.
In 2019, he also launched his own record label named Inclnk. Not only that, but he has also endorsed several brands over the years including MakeMyTrip, Ching’s, Head & Shoulders, Adidas, and Jack & Jones. And in 2020, he also launched his own production company called Mac Kasam Films.
9. Ajay Devgan
Ajay Devgn made his professional debut in the romance film Pool Our Kaante, in 1991. For his portrayal of the main character, he received a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. His next project was Jigar, a martial arts film that went on to become one of the highest-earning movies of 1991. From there, he appeared in Dil Hai Betaab, Dilwale, Naajayaz, Gundaraj, Jung, and Itihaas. He also starred in the 2002 film, Company, which earned him a Filmfare Award nomination for Best Actor.
Since then, he has appeared in numerous other titles including Yamla Pagla Deewana, Satyagraha, Hey Bro, Guest In London, Poster Boys, and Helicopter Eela. He also made brief cameos in the films Sooryavanshi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, RRR, and Simmba.
More recently, he made his OTT debut in the Disney + web series, Rudra.

8. Ranbir Kapoor
Ranbir Kapoor is the son of actors Neetu Singh and Rishi Kapoor. He’s also the grandson of award-winning actor-director, Raj Kapoor.
Born and raised in Bombay, he studied at the HR College of Commerce and Economics before moving to New York, where he pursued acting. During his time in film school, he starred and directed in two short films titled, India 1964 and Passion to Love.
Upon returning to Mumbai, he worked as an assistant director before making his acting debut in the 2004 short film, Karma. He later landed a starring role in Saawariya, which earned him a Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut and propelled him to stardom. A series of films soon followed including Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, Rockstar, Barfi, and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.
More recently, he played the role of Sanjay Dutt in the 2018 biographical film, Sanju, which went on to earn him a Filmfare Award for Best Award. Later this year, he will also be starring in the movies, Shamshera and Brahmastra.
Aside from acting, he’s also involved with football and supports various charity organizations. In 2016, he appeared in the documentary Girls with Goals, to help raise awareness for YUWA, an all-girls football team in rural India.
7. Rajnikanth
Rajinikanth is best known for his work in Tamil cinema. Throughout his career, he has won numerous awards including four Tamil Nadu State Film Awards for Best Actor. Not only that, but he also received several civilian awards from the Government of India.
Born on December 12, 1950, he made his acting debut in the 1975 film Apoorva Raagangal. He later received a breakthrough in Moondru Munichu, for which he earned recognition from viewers. From there, he starred in numerous films including Billa, Don, Dharmathin Thalaivan, Baashha, Uzhaippali, and Padayappa. In 2002, he also wrote, starred, and produced in the fantasy thriller, Baba.
Fast forward to 2010 and he played dual roles in the sci-fi flick, Enthrian, which went on to become the most expensive film to have ever been produced in the country. Not only that, but it also became one of the highest-earning Indian films of all time.
6. Hritik Roshan
Hrithik Roshan made his acting debut at the age of six in the 1980 film Aasha. It wasn’t until he was twelve, however, that he landed his first speaking role in Bhagwaan Dada. Wanting to pursue acting full-time, he went to Sydenham College, where he participated in a number of music and dance festivals. He also assisted his father, film director Rakesh Roshan, on a number of films including King Uncle, Kayla, Khudgarz, and Karan Arjun.
In 2000, he starred in his father’s Kaho Naa…Pyaar Hai, where he played dual roles- an NRI and an aspiring singer. To prepare for the role, he took lessons in acting, dancing, singing, and riding, and trained with actor Salman Khan. Praised by critics, his portrayal eventually earned him two Best Filmfare Awards—one for Best Actor and another for Best Debut.
A number of film projects soon followed including Koi…Mil Gaya, Doom 2, Lakshya, Om Shanti Om, Jodhaa Akbar, and Krrish, all of which were met with positive reviews.
More recently in 2019, he played the role of Anand Kumar in the biographical film, Super 30, which earned him another Filmfare Award nomination. According to IMDb, his next project will be an action thriller titled, Vikram Vedha, which is currently in the works.
5. Aamir Khan
Aamir Khan is one of the most established actors of Indian cinema. In fact, he has been described as “one of the biggest movie stars” in the world. Throughout his multi-decade career, he has received numerous awards including four National Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards. Not only that, but he has also received two civilian awards- a Padma Shri and a Padma Bhushan- from the Government of India.
As a child, he appeared on screen for the first time in his uncle’s 1973 film, Yaadon Ki Baaraat. Later as an adult, he made his professional debut in the 1984 drama film, Holi. However, it wasn’t until the late 80s that he began acting full-time. By the 90s, he had established himself as an accomplished actor with numerous credits under his name including the romantic drama Raja Hindustani, for which he received his first Filmfare Award.
In 1999, he founded his own production company called Aamir Khan Productions. Their first film, Lagaan, eventually went on to receive an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film.
Since then, Khan has starred in numerous films including Rang De Basanti and Fanaa. Not only that, but he also made his directorial debut in the 2007 title, Taare Zameen Par.
4. Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar has appeared in more than 100 films throughout his acting career. He made his debut at the age of 24 in Saugandh and later landed a breakthrough role in the 1992 action thriller, Khiladi. Since then, the film has spawned five sequels, all of which were commercial hits.
He also starred in Hera Pheri and Dhadkan, the latter of which saw him performing numerous stunts- one in which he climbed on top of a flying airplane. He was also seen dodging bullets, climbing walls, and jumping of buildings.
That’s not all, he also played lead roles in the films Garam Masala, Namastey London, Singh Is Kinng, and Holiday, and starred in Bachchhan Paandey and Samrat Prithviraj earlier this year. 3. Salman Khan
Salman Khan is an actor, television personality, and film producer. The oldest son of screenwriter Salim Khan, he made his acting debut in Biwi Ho To Aisi at the age of 23. He later played a lead role in the 1989 film, Maine Pyar Kiya. He also appeared in Karan Arjun, Andaz Apna Apna, and Biwi No. 1.
After a brief decline in the 2000s, he returned to the spotlight in the 2010 action film Dabangg. He later starred in Kick, Ready, Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Ek Tha Tiger, all of which were commercial successes. 2. Amitabh Bachchan
Amitabh Bachchan is considered to be one of the most influential actors in India. After graduating from college, he worked as a voice narrator in the 1969 film Bhuvan Shome. He later starred in the films Sholay, Deewaar, and Zanjeer, which propelled him to stardom.
Since then, he has appeared in more than 200 Indian film titles and has received numerous accolades including a Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award and four National Film Awards. Not only that, but he has also won 16 Filmfare Awards out of 42 nominations.
