One of the most successful users on Youtube, Evan Wong aka “VanossGaming” has gained over 22 million subscribers as of 2018. Known for his gaming content, he has played numerous popular titles such as Call of Duty: World at War, and Grand Theft Auto V.
Born on May 31, 1992, in Toronto, Ontario, Evan Fong is of Chinese descent from his father’s side and Korean descent on his mother’s side. Interestingly enough, he was never too into games as a young boy; it wasn’t until later in his life that he took up gaming as a hobby. As it happened, he originally studied economics in university prior to focusing on his Youtube career full-time. When he isn’t playing games, the 25-year-old enjoys playing the guitar as well as ice hockey.
How Evan Fong Became Famous
His Youtube channel, VanossGaming, was created in September 2011. An avid gamer, it didn’t take long for him to fill his page with gameplay videos, all of which, to his surprise, performed extremely well. Before long, his fame had led him to collaborate with other YouTubers such as Tom Cassell, Adam Montoya, and H2O Delirious.
Four years into his YouTube career, he gained an immense amount of media attention after surpassing the 11 million subscriber mark- a milestone that made him one of the top 25 most subscribed-to users on the site.
Evan Fong’s Other Projects
In 2015, it was announced that the twenty-something had been working on a game called Dead Realm for several months. A joint venture with MiniLadd, Daithi De Nogla, TheSyndicateProject, and Terroriser, it was later released on Stream that summer.
From there, his next project came in the form of a computer-animated series called, Paranormal Action Squad. A collaboration with Scott Robinson, and Adam Montoya, it featured the three as the series’ main characters; it eventually premiered on Youtube Red on November 24, 2016.
